| [#6991] Quad ESL63 How is your newly acquired ESL63 doing __________________________________________ Unfortunately the diaphragm of 2 panels are torn at the edge, and I have to have them remounted with new mylar film; and of course, the headache of the conductive coating. The other panels only suffer the grid/stator problem and can be easily fixed. |

| [#6990] Quad ESL63 bid for a "Dynavictor Pre-amp" on eBay lately ______________________________________________ I think Edwin refers to this Dynavector DV3000 vintage. I have never heard this before so cannot comment on it. Dynavector still makes preamps and phono amps such as the L200 and L300. Avoid these modern models.  |

| [#6988] Quad ESL63 Patrick, If you ship sea-freight, beware of the terminal charge and handling fee. That alone would easily cost you more than HK$3000. You will need terminal to door delivery to save you the drudgery of custom clearance and terminal collection. That will be another $800 I think. |

With permission from the SFO SQ staff, I was planing to check in my ESL57 as bulky item. It cost me nothing since I am still considered staff of SQ (and I still maintaining good rapport with the station manager). However, with additional ESL63s, it is impossible to check in all of them as bulky items. The SFO SQ station manager will kill me. If I decided to use my staff cargo sub-load privilege, I will need an E-contain rather than LD-4. It is much easier to ask my friend Sandy to build a sea freight pallet for me and ship via ocean. It may take a month but I don't have to worry about on board the aircraft. How is your newly acquired ESL63 doing? My friend Edwin in SFO told me last night that he lost the bid for a "Dynavictor Pre-amp" on eBay lately. He suggested I put in a bid for at least US$2,500.00 on eBay next time if I see one. He assured that I will not be regretted. He loaded me a "Dynavictor" power amp with KT88 push-pull about 15 years ago and I kind of like the sound. Any idea how this "Dynavictor" pre-amp sounded? | [#6985] Quad ESL63 dkyyu, The portable CD system I mentioned is this ugly little thing, just about the size of a remote control. It turns my 57 to sound like a freshly and perfectly restored ESL with treble I have never heard before. The true dynamic headroom of this Polish DAC can only be revealed by the best speakers none other than ESL!  |

| [#6984] Quad ESL63 Patrick mentioned that he has booked a pallet for his luggage. If that goes together with him, it will most likely be a lower deck ULD such as LD-4 or LD-11 pallet which has a dimension respectively of 60"x96"x63"H and 60"x125"x63"H, so plenty of space! |

He will be visiting HK by the end of Nov. or latest by beginning of Dec. this year to take care his vinyls stored in HK. He may need our help in packing and shipping them back to SF. He will bring alone all the oldies he owe us on his trip to HK. Remember he still have a pair of ESL63 with Arcici stand. He finally agreed to let go ESL63 and asked me to combine it with my sea shipment back to HK. I have also convinced him to let go the ESL57 Arcici stand. He will let me know his decision soon. I had one panel (the one that comes with the ESL I took from SSP) suffering distortion after being driven for a while. Taking this incident, Patrick helped me to replace the ESL with a pair of matched original panels bought from UK. That's what all about. I guess all ESL operating in proper condition should sound similar in terms of character and quality. As we are the ESL users, I wish you would consider putting the OTL amp in your audition list. Whether Graaf of Transcendant or any reasonable OTL amp won't that matter. |

| [#6973] Quad ESL63 looking forward to the audition of the ESL63. as to the high voltage cable, i brought them at hk$10.00 per feet with Luen Pong a couple of months ago at the shop in Hung Kong shopping arcade. that shop has been closed and moved to the 19th floor of the building in the opposite. there are two types of cable to choose. even the one with lower voltage resistance (geniune high voltage cable) sold at $10.00/feet which is more than sufficient to handle high voltage. however, the cable is so stiff that it is very difficult to bend it smoothly as the ones found insie the quad esl57. if one wants it for replacement, one has to bear this factor in mind before proceed further. |

The front door is always locked (I don't know why). You have to ring the door bell. Then a guy inside will ask you "what do you want" behind the glass door.
