| [#5390] QUAD ESL 63 Tour ~ Fei Ngor Shan My conclusion with esl63 for 14 days: ESL 63 has all the advantages what LS3/5A has but LS3/5A is lack of the same level of leisured bass* as what ESL 63 brings us. For full orchestra sound, esl 63 easily wins over LS3/5A, as someone quotes, put sand on LS3/5A. However, with the vocals, especially female vocal and not complicated string instrument, like violin, 箏. LS3/5A can be a strong contender to meet esl. Furthermore, with a right tube amplifier, LS3/5A is easily to be tamed :-) Honest to say, I have never invited speakers to my place. The esl 63 was an immediate attraction to me. I told myself before if I can be rich one day, I would buy a house with 10 rooms as my audio rooms, each room comes with one pair of LS3/5A. | [#5378] He Hui Gingers, You missed He Hui singing Liu's tu che di gel sei cinta from Turandot last evening, one of your favourite. She would do it again this evening and I strongly suggest you go. It was a magnificent performance. I was enthralled from the first note she sang - o, mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi by Puccini. He Hui hasn't got the most beautiful voice in the world but hers is full range, very thick and rich in colour. To me, she sounds very similar to Agnes Balsa. The projection of voice is marvellous. She could be clearly heard from pianissimo to fortissimo in a tutti. The performance was very well received although the hall was only scarcely occupied last evening. She received a more than 10 minute ovation with 4 encores. He Hui made her name as Cio Cio San and she just finished playing Liu at Covent Garden and Tosca with Lorin Maazel and NYPO at Carnegie. I think she is going to make her way up. The other orchestral playing was very disappointing though. Lu Jia was very mechanical and I think he just don't know how to build up a climax other than being loud.  |
