If you are a serious LS3/5A user, don't miss this CD. I was shocked to see this LP came with such an sky high price tag. | [#25727] GEC KT66 amplifier OEM by Leak Here we have a beautiful GEC BCS 2420 MONOBLOC Valve Amplifier made for the GEC company by the well known LEAK. I believe it was built in the late Forties, This was the era when Leak developed the TL15, known as the 'Point One' due to its extremely low distortion figures. The GEC 2420 has a compliment of three KTZ63, a L63, and two KT66 as well as a 5U4G rectifier. It operates conservatively in 'Class A' and will output 20W. The design is typical of the era, using a conventional C-L-C power-supply with a large choke. The Capacitors of the power-supply are of the 'Paper In oil' variety, and the KT66 are operated in 'Pentode-Mode'. There is no negative-feedback loop in this amplifier. I believe the Transformers and Choke are made by either Parmeko or Partridge, but I have not been able to confirm. This particular amplifier spent most of its life in a Chapel, under the pulpit and therefore was only used on Sundays! I aquired it a few years ago and sympathetically restored it, and also replaced the whole valve compliment. As this is a '100V Line' type amplifier I designed and wound a large Matching-Transformer to enable it to drive 6 and 8 ohm speakers with full bandwidth. | [#25718] KT66 project 試聽報告﹕ 開機，有hum但可接受（之前在dd處開聲靜如深海，乜hum都無，知道跟機無關），這可能同環境有關，唔理住先，先校kt66上下半波平行，再度瓶壓50ma。 開聲，先聽Decca Rachmanino Symphony No. 3，有dd失望，聲有點悶，但音場3d無問題，動態比較弱，開大d音量，底頻較多，張sir即時提醒要將超底level較底一點，即時正常番，但動態仍然較弱，欠些活力。好，關機，將kt66瓶壓由50ma提高到58ma再開聲。今次動態明顯增强，場面亦大有改善，好，再將電壓由58ma提高到正常的 62.5ma再開聲。 張sir 提意試隻Philip Puccini Tosca歌劇爆爆佢，一開聲，動態又再提高，活力增強，場面亦大有改善，人聲定位見得到，大合唱非常淡定，一d都無拆，爆棚場面收貨有餘。 部機雖然剛開聲，但己勝過我時常聽開的馬二了，現正煲機階段，仲未用正膽，前途無可限量........................... ________________________________________________ 好想快 d有得聽 ^.^ 最後修改時間: 2010-08-28 10:27:07 |
