| [#5] mark 390s or metronome cd4 I think 390s is OK, but seems it has a known transport mechanism problem with the tray opening and closing. Metronome has a typical french romance style. It's Kalista transport is one of the best you can buy in the market and much more neutral sounding, but the DAC portion is relatively weak :) |

The performance of Mark 390s exceeds those of following products I've used (or directly compared): Cary 306 , Cambridge Audio (640?), Naim various maodels CDP, SIm Andromeda , Esoteric X03 (no clock), and a few more I cannot recall)... Not yet compared with Metronome unfortunatelty, but I guess ... I'll still pick Mark...as my favorite! |

| [#16] mark 390s or metronome cd4 Mark has stopped producting 390s, as replaced by 502 media console (DVD+CD). Original price from Excel : $ 53000 2nd hand price $39000 (hard to find!) No problem with the tray at all, but someone warned me not to 'push-in' to load the CD, this may cause mal-alignment in long run. Another surprise is the PRE-AMP output is not bad at all. I have now disconnected the NAGRA PL-P (pre-amp) and connected the 390s to Power Amp directly. The sonic clarity is even better without a separate pre-amp! |
