| [#4] klangfilm Not really, electrically is the same but they uses different socket. EF40 is rimlock 8pin, EF86 is 9pin. Normally, EF40 is better than EF86 so no reason to change. For me, I just want to change EF86 to EF40. EF40 is very nice. I think you need to modify the output transformer to 8ohm. Mostly you need to change the power capacitor in this circuit. Be careful the capacitor with the plastic cap, it has high voltage on the surface. It uses two EL34s outputs 100W. It makes the EL34 easy to die. |

| [#13] klangfilm 6S-ELA 2754 is made by Siemens and not Klangfilm, but they are closely related. I have heard Klangfilm KL-V502, KL-V408, KL-V408A, and KL-V410 driving 15 ohm LS3/5A and they are clearly among the best I heard. |

| [#15] klangfilm Original Klangfilm 2154 has no power supply on its own. Therefore, you need to do on of the following: 1. Build a link to allow the 2154 to draw power from your 2754; or 2. Build/use a separate external power supply; or 3. Build an internal power supply inside each of the 2154. We also need to build an interface box to accept input and output via RCA. |

| [#20] klangfilm In general, the larger the speaker, the less power you need. And the smaller the speaker, the more power you need. I was never impressed with SS amp driving LS3/5A except one time when I heard it driven by 2000W Class A SS monoblock the size large than a refrigerator. If you really want to drive LS3/5A well with SS amp, 1500W is minimum IMHO. You do not need that much power with tube amp but 20W is the mininum in general with LS3/5A. |
