I have been running the dac-2 since early June for 2-3 hours a day using spdif with the OPPO 83SE Nuforce. The result is more detail and better base control than OPPO even they both use the same chip. This week I started to use the USB interface with my Asus notebook and I do feel that the USB input is a bit better than the OPPO coax input. I am runing Jriver 1.4 on the notebook with XP SP3 and no optimization done on it. It is not recommended to use the Buffalo II output directly, but it is possible. The output can be used as a voltage source into a high impedance but THD+N will suffer. THD+N as a voltage source is about - 108db whereas when used with a very low input impedance current to voltage stage such as the IVY-III it can achieve -120db THD+N in mono mode. Each analog output at 0DBFS is equivalent to a voltage of approximately 92.4% of AVCC in series with 195. So given 3.3VDC AVCC it will be about 3.05Vpp across 195. The output will be DC biased at AVCC/2. This works out to about 16ma peak to peak at each output. The amount of bias current will depend of the voltage of the virtual ground. In dual mono mode the channel on the DAC which is opposite the selected channel carries the same analog signal but anti-phase as shown in table 2. This allows the use of the IVY-III as a single differential (balanced) mono channel. Dual mono operation is used to achieve the best dynamic range. If you still need single ended output then you would want to add a high quality BAL/SE converter such as the Ballsie Lite or the Ventus. [#11] moon750d vs wyred4sound dac2 vs dac202 vs mcd500 As you said Buffalo x 2 to make dual mono, it's one ESS9018 per Channel (indeed one ESS9018 is 8-ch DAC), so I said it's not going to improve and not so feasible if you want to enjoy it's reclocking. Buffalo is digital board, when I/V is another board. Please state clear and read twice before you send out. If you said Dual mono of I/V stage, it make sense, and I have IVY III I/V in my order already. THD -108dB vs -120dB is using Buffalo II in direct Voltage out WITHOUT I/V stage Vs Current Out mode with I/V conversion. Dual Mono improves Channel Separation I think. 最後修改時間: 2010-06-29 21:22:19 |
