[#1030] Any classical fans here? I am curious because the cover you post is rather unusual for a beginner. The first one is soem french song by Hahn which is not a famous composer at all (compare with Debussy, Ravel, Faure or other master in this genre). The second one may be more famous since most poeple know Rossini wrote the Horce Racing theme at least....but full version Barber of Seville is rather too much for me. So, I guess you have something to say. If not, nevermind.

[#1031] Any classical fans here? Gandalf, You are right. Maybe Hahn is not suitable for beginners but it is not difficult ga. Try try la... :) How about this one. Schubert Piano Quintet in A Major, D.667, "Trout" 鱒魚五重奏 (Jeno Jando/Kodaly Qt./Istvan Toth) A vivid and youthful performance. Do you have any recommendations? ![]()

[#1034] Any classical fans here? Eric, Decca Curzon is a famous version and I do have it... :) 容小弟補充多一句, a cold name doesn't imply his/her music is difficult or inferior. 多嘗試...天空才會大<----老套左D

[#1035] Any classical fans here? haha...I just think Hahn is rather obscure for most people, even if it is rather light or easy listening music. Personally,I did try many things beyond standard reportire. Hahn is not bad but also not great even compare with Chausson or Duprac for example. I didnt mean anything against expanding horizon...etc If you ask me to recommend a good cd, here is one in same genre. ![]()

[#1050] Any classical fans here? Gandalf, I have only 2 versions for Walton.... heifetz/LSO/Sargent and Ida haendel/Bournemouth SO/Berglund. Is Ms. Suwanai's playing comparable? Actually, I want to know more about her Sibelius... :)

[#1051] Any classical fans here? Me too. Talking about perfomance, Miss Suwanai may not have any advantage over these two great violinists. However, I think she playing is always maintaining a good balance between technique flair and musical intelligence, with a sense of emotional involvment without becoming too sentimental. Soundwise, I think it is better in term of detail and dyanimcs range, those some people may prefer older recordings in different aspect. For Sibelius, the competition is too fierce but this is still a decent alernative.
