Hi Dr. Chi, here is what I know about your Franklin Mint records.

Franklin Mint Society (not sure if it still exists) is from the US and it sells different kinds of high/higher end collectible items via direct channels like TV and mail order. Like what you indicated, this set of records was issued in 1978; as you probably know the company obtained licensing agreements from different large record companies to re-issue the records just like Acoustics Sound and Speaker Corner of today. I remember back in mid 1990s there was a record dealer in Midwest US listed this set for sale at around $600 and he indicated it's a bargain.

I just did a search on Google and someone in Texas is trying to sell a set for $100 US but local pickup only as they weight about 165 lbs.

I guess in any case you got a really good a bargain out of it. I have 4 boxes of them and they are heavy vinyl in very nice packages. Happy listening!

Another demonstration quality recording from NAXOS, the first movement is simply breathtaking and scary... the expansiveness of this new work really blow me away!

Not necessarily Chole Hanslip, we can try something new! ^.^

Not really as they are given to me by a friend from my hospital. All he asked was just a bottle of cheap wine ^_^

I don't think they are expensive to begin with but looking at the quality I may have a different view now.

I will spend some times and listen to them. It looks like having quite a lot of RCA Living Stereo and HMV catalogues.

I have just acquired these box sets of records. They are called "The 100 Greatest Recordings of Al Time" and are issued by The Franklin Mint record Society in 1978. They are given to me by a friend.

I must say I know very little about these records and I thought they are Americans but in actual fact they are pressed in Sweden. They are very well presented and each box has 2 records and comes with a letter from Stanley Walker, the Director of the Franklin mint Record Society. The letter briefly describes the contents of the box set but there is also a booklet which tells more details about the date of the recording, the information about the composer and the performers.

The vinyl is kind of what Hong Kong always refer to as "Coca Cola Red Vinyl". I listen the it and my thought is that the sound quality is excellent. They are close to my First Press quality if not better. There are some mono recordings but mostly in stereo.
