- #22 [batmanames04], 10-06-21 15:18After I looked into the naked photo of Wyred4Sound DAC2, it seems that Buffalo II is with better components and layout.
differnt pcb layout different effect, hard to say which one is better even though comparing with DAC202.
the only thing you can do by taking measuring data - #23 [CKL2], 10-06-21 15:50From the photos, Buffalo II is using almost the most precise crystal, extra opamp stages to supply power to ESS, power filtering capacitors are very close to ESS. I can't see similar goodies on Wyred4Sound DAC2 so may be a cut cost compensation. :(

- #24 [埃澤多], 10-06-21 16:30is it a same one used in Dac 1?
- #25 [hercules], 10-06-21 17:02One of the advantage of Buffalo is Brian and Russ getting support from Dustin of ESS directly, it's the best DIY Sabre32 implementation you can buy in the market.
- #26 [batmanames04], 10-06-21 17:05hercules hing,
is it possible to have 32bit digital volume control with buffalo - #27 [hercules], 10-06-21 17:17I think it's only possible by processing at computer side, as no DSP chip on the board, adding Volmite controller only use the DAC own software volume control, surely it's not as good as DSP based.
So use Buffalo as normal DAC and output at full is the best, controlling volume by pre-amp as usual - #28 [batmanames04], 10-06-21 19:17thanks and quite agree with you, and still prefer external pre-amp with it.
I guess your design better sound than dac202
is it your external pre-amp board with ad797? - #29 [hercules], 10-06-21 19:23you means I/V stage? TPA IVY III using OPA1628 + LM4562 while Weiss use OPA1628+AD797
and I will use both IVY III and Tube Output stage wth Buffalo II

- #31 [CKL2], 10-06-22 20:17Page 2 released, but 7815/7915 are not good regulators?
http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/wyred4/dac_2.html - #32 [batmanames04], 10-06-22 20:30i dont think 7815/7915 are no good
most diy fans using some type of super regulator that claim the best . have they done any measurement with and without using that regulator in dac performance like thd and dynamic range etc??? - #33 [batmanames04], 10-06-22 20:52wyred4sound still a good deal with digital volume control and also hdmi input
comparing with weiss dac202 - #34 [ballon], 10-06-22 21:26How is it compared with Benchmark pre? Any comment please.
- #35 [odysseyhk], 10-06-22 23:44"hdmi input"
Please note that it is for I2S connection (NOT HDMI). It just use the same connector so that people may use HDMI cable to pass I2S signal.
DO NOT connect any HDMI output to Wyred4Sound DAC2 I2S input. It may damage DAC2.
Please note that PS Audio also support the use of HDMI cable standard for transmission of I2S signal. - #36 [batmanames04], 10-06-23 00:34how is it compared with benchmark pre?
good question , like similar question people asked previously " how weiss medea (AD1853 chip same as benchmark) compare with weiss DAC202 (ESS9018)
some c-hing still prefer the sound of weiss medea (over 100K hkd) although AD1853 24bit 192khz chip and no matter in measurement data DAC202 win medea a lot
by theory ESS9018 chip in Wyresound4 DAC2 sampling the digital data and stored in state machine, and using multi stage delta sigma conversion, this way seems less suspectible to jitter.
provide you can provide less jitter digital source to benchmark DAC1, I still like the sound of DAC1 than DAC2. - #37 [batmanames04], 10-06-26 13:13ess

- #39 [odysseyhk], 10-06-26 13:46"Because the Sabre is an 8-channel part, today's standalone converters run dual-differential circuit topologies with paralleled DACs. There are two DACs per phase per channel (8 total) whereby each of those 8 DACs is fully balanced unto itself. This configuration allows for better than 132dB of dynamic range."

unlike traditional embedded clock in spdif, this dac may be sound better with usb and I2S input - 下一頁 (2 of 63)

any measurement data like weiss DAc2 0.000056% etc for DIY
but for non Diy GUYS , 4SOUND STILL A GOOD CHOICE IN MONEY
