- #6532 [ck2005], 07-06-27 13:49aliu hing, why not have a try!
ECC33 & 35, too expensive la, people just like their shape rather than its sound quality. 6C8G also ST type! - #6533 [aliu], 07-06-27 13:53but i don't have the adaptors... ;-)

Making adaptor for VT99/6F8G --> 6SN7/VT231
_____________________________________________
In view of some members' interest in making the adaptor for using
VT99/6F8G as 6SN7/VT231, I extract below my earlier post for easy
reference. It should be a simple handiwork..
(Begins...)
Materials required-
a) a ceramic octal socket (N.B. sockets with fixed holders NOT
suitable)
b) a octal plug with plastic cover (metalic cover is NOT suitable
because you need to cut away the top 1/3 of the cover)
c) about 1 foot of single-strand wire, tefon insulation preferred
d) about 6.5 inches serial cable, tefon insulation preferred
e) a ceramic cap or half of a fuse clip (for connecting to the top
grid of 6F8G)
The adaptor serves to convert the pinout of 6F8G into the pinout of a
6SN7:
6F8G --> 6SN7, i.e. to wire the octal socket to the octal plug, as
follows:
Octal --> Octal
socket plug
Pin 1 ----
Pin 2 ---- Pin 7
Pin 3 ---- Pin 2
Pin 4 ---- Pin 3
Pin 5 ---- Pin 4
Pin 6 ---- Pin 5
Pin 7 ---- Pin 8
Pin 8 ---- Pin 6
Top Cap -- Pin 1
(...Ends)

And.. 6F8G/VT99 has a top pin. This means you need to connect the top pin to back the octal socket, i.e. an adaptor of suitable sort is required.
:) - #6543 [lym], 07-06-27 19:41Adaptor 有得賣架... 我記得老友兄幫我買.

Lym,
I think it was me who told Old Pal (or some body else?) to go to Micheal's audio shop at Tung chun Commercial Building (up floor) at Dundes Street, Mongkok. But I doubt if Micheal still has the adaptor to sell.
Ask him. No harm. :) - #6545 [rcwy], 07-06-27 20:00
In view of renewed interest in 6F8G.. let me show some photos about how to make/DIY the adaptor yourself.
My first pair, very "DIY" made, adaptors. - #6546 [rcwy], 07-06-27 20:02
First, make sure which pins of 6F8G go to which pins of a 6SN7 socket. Check out the spec. of both tubes! - #6547 [rcwy], 07-06-27 20:02Hope people understand this picture without problem.

RCA & Haltron (England) 6C8G is good. My advice is buy all what you see before people getting familiar with the quality of these good tubes.
