| [#194] Leak and Vintage Tube Gears Restoration dd, I have tried many rectifiers on my 300B amp. 83 is very good (clean, thick and tight), but not WE's rthymic and smooth and musical. U52 is brighter and musical and transparent, but without the muscles of 53KU. 53KU is like a U52 with deeper thicker bottom on the expense of transparency and speed. With WE274a or b, you can forget all aboves. WE274a more seductive and better vocals WE274b better orchestra works and vigour sound stage I still don't understand why they look the same except the base but sound different. My last comment is (may be Albertino got experience and agree too) WE300B's sound is unique, not having listen to WE before, you never know what is a 300B standard. WE274A/B is the spirit for WE300B amps, it provide 2/3 of the sound signature of a 274 + 300B compo. for one money's choice I bet a WE274 + repro 300B sounds better than repro 274 + WE300B hv fun! |
