[#23538] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user mega rare GEC/ leak 25 watt amp these were made by Leak at the same time they made the t15 watt amplifier, triode connected parallel push pull giving 25 watts the outputs are 60v 80v 100v 120v this amp have been serviced and are working nicely and auction includes 4 original kt66 all tested good. as well as the other valves In late 1945 LEAK put the original "Point One" series power amplifier -- the Type 15 -- was put into production. It was so named as harmonic distortion products had been reduced to "point one percent". It was announced in the technical press and in advertisments such as those seen in Wireless World, December 1945. Key features of the Point One series that allowed distortion products to be so small were: the use of KT66 valves running as triodes in Class A; high-quality output transformer; 26dB feedback over 4 stages; and a special tertiary winding dedicated soley to the feedback circuit, thus maximising the stability. The success of the Type 15 amplifier opened opportunities for LEAK to supply amplifiers under contract to other companies, such as GEC. These amplifiers were badged "GEC" but built by LEAK using the Type 15 topology to produce a range of variants to suit GEC's requirments. Most of the of the GEC amplifiers probably pre-date the later TL/12 Point One amplifier (of 1948), but it likely that some were also built after the introduction of the TL/12. Different variations were produced for GEC, using KT66's strapped in various configurations to obtain different power output and distortion characteristics, and with a variety of input/mixing arrangements. Combinations included: push-pull triode and tetrode; push-pull-parallel triode and tetrode -- giving power outputs ranging from 15 to 60 Watts continuous average, and distortion in the range 0.1 to 0.2 percent. For the tetrode connected variant, LEAK often employed gas-regulator valves (such as the S130) to ensure a stable screen-grid supply -- essential for good performance with tetrodes. LEAK also produced the a 30 Watt Point One amplifier, badged as LEAK but identical to the GEC 2430A. In proper working condition, these amplifiers will still "cut the mustard" against other amplifiers produced much later on. The value in these amplifiers is in the original LEAK circuits and componentry, so it makes great sense to preserve these as much as possible if value is to be maintained in them. THIS AMP HAS BEEN CAREFULLY RESTORED and is in good working order. to use it with conventional speakers I recomend you use a step down transformer http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220314412862&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting |

[#23544] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Electrohome is perhaps[citation needed] best known as one of Canada's largest manufacturers of television sets in its heyday between 1949 and 1984, and continues to be a popular brand in the Canadian market. [edit] History Electrohome was founded in Kitchener, Ontario in 1907. The company began manufacturing and selling television sets in 1949, competing with companies such as Northern Electric and Canadian General Electric for a share of the Canadian market. Electrohome developed its reputation for its large heavy floor models boxed in hardwood cases. In 1954, Carl Arthur Pollock, president of the family-owned company in a consortium with Famous Players Corporation set up CKCO-TV, which broadcasts in the Kitchener-Waterloo and southern Ontario region. Electrohome assumed full control of CKCO in 1970 when broadcasting laws substantially reduced the amount of foreign ownership in Canadian media (Famous Players was controlled by Paramount Pictures). In 1958/59, a copy of the World Famous DTN Williamson amplifier was produced with Partridge Output transformer, 5V4G, 6SN7, 12AU7, and a pair of KT66 output tubes, producing 10 watts of power at less than 0.3% distortion. Audiophiles the world over have since been searching for this elusive machine, The "Mighty" Electrohome PA-100 MK-1. MK-1 is a gold coloured monobloc, the PA-100 is white/creme coloured with black transformers, and it's been rumoured they produced a chrome version. In 1984, suffering from years of competition with Sony and other Japanese television makers, Electrohome ceased production of TV sets, and licensed the brand name to Mitsubishi Electric. Electrohome continued to assemble large screen projection systems popular with rock stars for a number of years using components from American manufacturers such as IBM and Texas Instruments. In 1988, Electrohome purchased a second television station, CFRN in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1995, Electrohome and Baton Broadcasting entered a partnership, sharing ownership of CKCO, CFRN, CFCN in Calgary, CFPL in London, CHWI in Wheatley and CKNX in Wingham. The following year, the partnership was reorganized: Baton took over full ownership of all of the stations, and Electrohome became a shareholder in Baton. In 1999, Electrohome switched licensees dropping Mitsubishi Electric and allowing Canadian distributor Citizen Electronics (Jutan) to market TV's and DVD players under the Electrohome brand name. Currently, Electrohome has ceased all manufacturing, and now derives most of its income from its licensing, and has minor stock holdings in Mechdyne/Fakespace Systems which provides visualization solutions for data analysis, and Immersion Studios, a digital cinema firm. Electrohome has announced that it is planning an orderly wind-up of the corporation. http://www.globeinvestor.com/servlet/story/CNW.20080805.C9691/GIStory http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrohome |

[#23553] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Leak TL12.1 was shipped with EF36/EF37, ECC32, KT66 and GZ32. Due to low avaiability of the above tubes in USA and the relative flexibility of the circuit, Leak also advice that 6J7, 6SN7, EL37 and 5U4G can also be used in the TL12.1. And as it is OK to use 5U4G, you can also use GZ37, 53KU, U52 and probably WE274B in the TL12.1. The tubes which are not recommended are probably 5Y3, GZ34 and 5R4G. |
