[#221] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier alan, "Do you feel there is any different between the Fisher 80-C and Fisher 400CX-2?" it is too long ago when i listened to them and i'm afraid i don't have very good auditory memory. |

[#222] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier Dear King Did you try A/B test any Fisher preamps with the preamp you are using? What is the different between your preamp and other Fisher preamps? So I can have better idea of your musical taste? Best regards Alan |

[#224] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier alan, "Did you try A/B test any Fisher preamps with the preamp you are using? What is the different between your preamp and other Fisher preamps?" when i a/b the fisher with my other preamp, i found the fisher masked out too much low level details. this makes the emotion expression of some singers difficult to flow forward. the fisher can't delineate different shades of 'emotion'. these nuances are there to help me to create the illusion. the absence of these in the fisher amp makes it difficult for me to engage in the music presentation. it doesn't mean the fisher doesn't sound 'nice' but 'nice' isn't the point, is it? |

[#226] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier alan, "What preamp are you using? But which model of fishe preamp are you A/B test with?" it is my own preamp and i have said enough least someone think i'm blowing my own horn. regarding the fisher preamp i think it is a fisher 400CX. have to ask richard to confirm exactly which model. i don't own the fisher. it belongs to richard. |

[#228] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier Just curious. Is yours a passive pre? no. i tried a number of different passive pre. the TVC one is nice. i've the S&B copper version. i don't find the use of passive pre necessary for my own setup. as i said, i expect my pre to provide gain and not just use as a attentuator. therefore i design my power amp to have low sensitivity. it is not much point to throw away hard earned gain. it is only a matter of where you put the gain. i spread them over the pre and power amps. with passive pre, you have restriction on source as well as power amp. just too much bother. |

[#229] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier "regarding the fisher preamp i think it is a fisher 400CX. have to ask richard to confirm exactly which model. i don't own the fisher. it belongs to richard. " Yes, it is FISHER 400CX, but it won the championship in the vintage pre-amps party held on 3 September 2005. What vintage preamps lack or add is what some lovers of vintage preamp like. Real or false, emotional or actual doesn't matter. :) Happy ears! |

What vintage preamps lack or add is what some lovers of vintage preamp like. [#233] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier K, no cocaine, which is illegal. How about beer!? actaully i believe it is legal to consume cocaine. it is just not legal to trade cocaine or possess an excessive qty. so vintage dealer and collector has to be careful:-) people once in while take cocaine to escape from the 'real' world. but sooner or later, they will come to the enlightenment that the world is indeed real after all.:-) |

[#234] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier alan, "I see! Believe you much different musical teste than me and Richard. However, it good to locate what you like the most! Happy ears!" i think it is a misnomer to describe this as musical taste. musical taste to me is do with the genre of music which in this case might/might not be different. i think it is more accurate to describe it as sound reproduction preference/taste. |

[#235] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier 1937 Avery Fisher founded Philharmonic Radio in America with an initial capital of 354 dollars. 1938 Development of the first HiFi radio-phonograph combination. 1958 Production of individual HiFi components gets underway. 1975 Innovations which to some extent are still in use today: genuine HiFi quality receiver, amplifier using class AB technology. 1977 Foundation of FISHER HiFi-Europe Vertriebs GmbH in Munich. 1982 Introduction of the FISHER brand to the Japanese market, production startup of FISHER video recorders, CD players and television sets. 2003 SANYO FISHER Sales (Europe) GmbH brings the FISHER brand back to the German-speaking market. 2004 German premiere of the first FISHER LCD TV and the wireless DVD home cinema system in Düsseldorf. 2005 Introduction of FISHER premium dealer concept for authorized dealers. http://www.fisher-hifi.de/eng/history.asp Some people have a passion that ultimately changes the course of history. Avery Fisher was one such individual, and his accomplishments became legendary far beyond the boundaries of his native New York. His greatest contribution was the pioneering spirit which enabled him to devise the basic principles of high fidelity. This wonderful invention increased the quality of sound reproduction by several orders of magnitude and defined pure sound perfection. Although Fisher had a passion for music, his true genius manifested itself in his understanding of electronics. However, he was not just the inventor of the transistorized amplifier and the combination radio-phonograph. Fisher was a visionary who activated untapped potential and made the impossible possible. Not one to keep his accomplishments a secret, he staged phonograph concerts for his friends and built versions of his systems for them. He founded a company in 1937, and HiFi was on its way. Avery, who was nearly 88 when he died in 1994, was a major instigator of the torrid pace of development in the world he left behind. Did he realize that the technical evolution would continue under his name? Fisher still shapes the changes which are taking place thanks to digital technology. The company will continue to set the future direction in home cinema systems, futuristic LCD panels, etc. and in keeping with the spirit of Avery Fisher, it will maintain a passion for perfection. We owe it to him. ![]() |

[#237] Fisher and Pilot 古董同好會 ~ Vintage Amplifier After getting bored with digital sound, I connected the following setup 80C+400CX2+TT that was long recommended by William (Fisher member). Just for the sake of convenient, I then swithed to CD source. Wow. I get the best of both pres. A level up IMO. Highly recommended! |
