| [#261] Will U toe-in differently for different CD The digital recorder is the TASCAM DR-07 II, just a cheap model I used with my digital SLR which only has mono recording. It's quite handy as it has MP3 or WAV (BWF) file format at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution. |

| [#266] Will U toe-in differently for different CD zbigniew821 Hing, Jazz recording are usually presented "in the face" in order to get the recording audience excited. Close miking is the way. BUT....if better engineers wants better control of the sound, then Main Mic array may be placed further away say15-20 ft from the musicians so the in the face effect can be controlled in the way which the producer wants the sound to be. Some better engineers may also place outrigger mics around the room for special reasons which I will not discuss here. Remember, the producers dictate what sound is to be put on record. Consumers and engineers have no say. Consumer are always get brainwashed by the way music should be sound. This may lack creativity. The producer probably want compression added on each mic track to give specific effect in mind to how the music should be presented, whether the effect is close to the real sound is another issue. Compression especially drums are always applied. Jazz room / club is usually a small environment and therefore loud drums sound make the recording sounded far too saturated, so drum compression / gate are added using great skill. What the consumer do not know what were put into the recording won't hurt. The end users/listeners probably do not know what they should be listening to. Happy listening... 最後修改時間: 2014-08-09 13:01:16 |

| [#269] Will U toe-in differently for different CD NAR hing Nice to hear from you again :) I certainly learnt from you how the engineers manipulated the recording, even for Jazz music. Reading the wave form of different CD versions and vinyl rips is like entering a chaos of WTF they're doing? The jazz bar I mentioned, yes, led one to ask wtf he is doing? I did like to visit live Jazz bar in the old days. Most use amplifiers anyway. But the live feel is still there. If we're talking about non-live bar that only plays Jazz music, that's another matter. Many are just using speakers in the ceiling here and there. The Japan one I visited isn't like that. He's obviously using his room and speaker placement to create a 'glorifying' non-realistic effects, like it or not. Creative? Yes. Likable? It really depends on one's taste. Perhaps I should give a decent funerals to the thread as most discussion and sharing in forums now tend to be about changing and matching gears ... the insistence on the speaker positioning, a gift from you, is few and far between. NMC can't come back though I know you may be here. Good night. |

| [#272] Will U toe-in differently for different CD Pop Girl Groups have been around as long as music itself. Obviously in the older days they were just singers plus a little bit of performers if you must. I am sure this type still by large a part of the music scene.
