| [#302] Daphile - Another Squeezebox Replacement lw hing, as u may know, the idea of using asyn USB is to separate the clock from computer. But is still implicated in the quality of the I2S data coming from the FPGA/CPLD which actually triggered by the MCU of USB handling. You setup is nice. Are u running DoP on SPDIF? Actually I'm not sure how better you may encounter by tweaking Daphile since you already have SPDIF buffering (and reclock?). But I think there should be some benefits on SQ since every part always count in CAS... |

| [#303] Daphile - Another Squeezebox Replacement lovebird ching, SPDIF format had been developed a long time, it can handle 24/192 for sure. I use 5 logic gates in parallel for buffering so that it can drive a long 75 ohm digital cable, PC SPDIF header is designed for internal connection, not for digital output. To re-clock or not re-clock, there is no absolute answer, the problem is, the circuit should be good enough to handle 24/192 re-clocking. I dropped the idea to re-clocking. I don't use Dop as my DAC, Metrum Octave, can only accept 24/174 SPDIF signal, no USB input. I find good dc power supplies for CAS is utmost important. 最後修改時間: 2016-05-10 23:44:52 |

| [#304] Daphile - Another Squeezebox Replacement lw hing, thx for your sharing. You have a good exp in DIY work and circuit design. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd consider the logic gates circuit used in driving the output as an electrical level shifting device more than a buffer device. From my understanding, the closer the clock to the DAC side/chip, the lesser jitters probably induced. And I'd prefer the way of USB＞I2S in which I2S separates the clock from the rest of digital signals and the transmitter/receiver of I2S typically has less jitters than SPDIF interfaces. Nevertheless, I believe that the overall SQ may still depend on the implementation and design of the DAC and its related setup. So, just try our best to utilize strengths in the components on hands. |

| [#310] Daphile - Direct connect to a NAS without router Haven't tried this kind of network drive before, but make sure if your router has CIFS / NFS services enabled. And CIFS sounds much better than NFS in the previous versions, I guess that is still the trick in the current version. And go further... you may consider boot from a SSD drive instead of a thumb. :) |
