Haven’t spinned any optical disc for several months now.
The SACD player is still waiting for parts to be resurrected while another Blu-ray player is even more troublesome, the cfu can’t even identify the source of it’s malfunctioning.
So only LPs for the moment (turntable just been fixed several months back).
This has been the longest audio hibernation I ever experienced….

B.T.W. : I found Henry Lai’s work too Morriconish to my liking while Tan Dun’s CTHD OST is among one of my favorites ^_^

1935年美國電影《科學怪人續集》。

電影故事延續1931年前作《科學怪人》嘅劇情。話說前作結局時科學怪人及Dr Frankenstein其實沒有被村民放火燒死，前者殺人後逃入森林，後者則被送回其女伴Elizabeth處。雖然後來Dr Frankenstein康復後決定不再沾手此類勾當，但其昔日導師Dr Pretorious擄走Elizabeth並威脅Dr Frankenstein合作，替科學怪人創造一名女伴！但最終事成後結果卻出人意料⋯

電影由當時得令嘅恐怖電影著名演員Boris Karloff主演並由當年一線嘅美籍德裔電影音樂作曲家Franz Waxman負責配樂工作。此君名作如雲，其中包括有《後窗》、《日落大道》等。由於以往原聲帶被認為早已遺失，所以除卻一衆重新演繹版本外，從未有發行過本電影嘅原聲大碟，事情直至2020年才有轉機，因為較早時作曲家兒子John將父親嘅手稿捐贈給大學，之後再由Waxwork公司整理後發行，此OST 才得以重見天日。電影原聲LP係以半透明白色180g膠印製發行。聲音由於經過修復，所以就算年代久遠亦都算可以接受。

理所當然，OST大碟入邊嘅音樂全部以管弦樂演奏，而且就像當年大部份電影配樂一樣主要用咗弦樂器同管樂器，配樂風格明顯屬於Mickey Mousing，就似迪士尼卡通嘅相對嚴肅版。雖然係單LP但包裝就係用上咗紙質優良印刷精美嘅雙封套，入邊頌富有一份對摺嘅解說頁。

Irish musician Moya Brennan dies aged 73

With great sadness to report that Moya (Máire) Brennan of the Irish Folk Clannad has p[assed away.

Clannad was the first Irish Folk group led me to the Irish/ Celtic music. Clannad was also producing music for BBC and ITV.

Their long lasting legacy should never be underestimated.

May she rest in peace somewhere magical and peaceful because her music has always with these spirits.

Tks for sharing some wonderful music by Clannad.
I always have a liking for Celtic music and it’s sad to learn that Moya from the band has passed away.
Their song I Will Find You from The Last of the Mohicans still comes up to my mind from time to time.
Listening to their music reminds me of Enya and the music score of Titanic. ^^

1995年港產電影《回魂夜》。

電影由周星馳、莫文蔚及李力持等主演。故事講述捉鬼專家Leon在一條鬧鬼的公共屋邨內教授如何對付厲鬼的方法。在對付厲鬼嘅過程中一眾角色輪流被鬼魂附身，因此出現咗連番廝殺嘅恐怖同血腥場面⋯⋯

電影拍攝時正值另一部荷里活電影《Leon /這個殺手不太冷》熱潮在本港方興未艾，所以片中男主角（周星馳）造型亦參考了該電影：戴墨鏡、穿大褸同捧住一盆植物。至於電影入邊出現嘅殺人兇器 — 鏈鋸就明顯係取材自1973年驚嚇電影《Texas Chain Saw Massacre/德州電鋸大屠殺》。電影喺一齣包含強烈恐怖元素嘅黑色喜劇，當年本港觀眾似乎不太受落，所以票房及不上其他周星馳作品。但就同一啲外國cult movies類似，電影後來發行影碟版本時反而受到青睞，甚至連電影入邊嘅音樂亦如是。

三十年後先至發行嘅原聲大碟係台灣麗笛公司出品，分別以雙LP同CD形式發行，入邊總共有四十一首配樂選段，全部都係胡偉立所創作。講到胡偉立此君，佢可以話係本港80年代其中一個配樂界嘅大忙人，作品有《Hail the Judge /九品芝麻官》、《From Beijing with Love /國產零零七》、《 Royal Tramp /鹿鼎記》等等。此君出生於香港但在內地完成教育，直至後來才回歸香港參與電影配樂工作，現在則已移民加拿大。呢度介紹嘅係限量發行五百隻嘅LP版本，原聲大碟入邊嘅音樂全部都係合成樂器演奏，風格上就似當年嘅港產片，尤其係恐怖片嘅配樂。音質方面由於經過後期加工處理，所以雖然屬於合成樂器亦比較富有立體感，無論聲音分隔度同兩極延伸都有合理表現。另外呢套原聲大碟嘅碟片本身十分平直，底噪亦低。

呢套雙唱片集，用上咗雙封套包裝。封套紙質優良印刷精美而且附有一份同樣彩色印刷嘅內頁。雖然價錢不算便宜，但作為香港電影音樂界嘅一份記錄係有一定嘅收藏價值。

講開又講，近排已經出版咗四套胡老配樂嘅電影原聲，嚟緊仲有第五套《RoyalTramp/鹿鼎記》。
每次聽到有啲唔熟行情嘅人話依家已經冇乜實體電影原聲出版，小弟都揞住嘴笑因為實情係買到你破產都得！^-^

I will transfer the Acoustic Research AR3A units into the AR2Ax boxes.

New arrangement of the units will need to rearrange.

The "Bull Eye" Mid from the AR3A will go into the Tweeter of AR2Ax. The Tweeters are all dead so it needs replacements. Luckily many years ago I was going tom change the tweeters on my other AR2Ax but I sold them as parts already so been sitting in my garage for a long time.

I need to enlarge the hole for the Bull Eye but not that difficult.

I will need to cut a circular wood to cover the Tweeter hole since the new tweeter is tiny bit smaller. Also, it sill sit recess as compared to the Mid. I don't want any phase shift but we will see if it needs to.

Here is the original AR2Ax and the modified AR3A next to it.

aiting for some clamps for the Mid's so can't install the units yet.

I give the boxes a little bit of sanding and it shows the "Tiger strips" like wood grain from the front baffle. It's kind of nice.

I intend to keep the AR3A Crossover as an external unit.

The old Crossover from AR2Ax will be retained in place as it was difficult to get out and easily damaged.

I found these bamboo trays in a home shop and they were just right.

What a difference a day makes................

I know it's such a cliché but it's quite a way it turns out for the AR3a.

The AR3a is probably more than 50 years old. If I guess it right the caps inside are original and it's the old.

Last night they would be connected to power in more than 10 years(that's when I got them) or could be more.

It was tight and restrained when performing, especially the bass.

However, I wouldn't say a big improvement and no miracle here but it has relaxed a lot more than I expect.

It becomes more AR sound(at least as compared to AR10丌) with much better controlled bass. I also think that the replacement tweeter is a good match.

NASA has no official release of any music for their Apollo Mission. Astronauts would bring their own music with them to the Apollo vehicles.

It was during their live boardcast from space we knew what music they had chosen.

Many consider Brian Eno's Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks could be the semi-offical recording.

It was released on 29 July 1983 through EG Records. The music was originally written for a documentary film about the Apollo program, For All Mankind, though the film was not released until 1989.

This is my favourite Eno's recording of all time.

I was always fascinated by the Apollo Moon Mission. With these videos I put some of my items which I considered related to the Apollo program.
