[#22] iTransport from Wadia - finally, we can co I've got it installed. It's now under the burn-in stage. It sounds OK initially. Will tell more about the sound quality after the burn-in. The remote control is tiny and simple, only got "play / stop", "previous track", "next track" and "mode" buttons. The unit has no On/Off switch and no LED, therefore, you cannot tell if the unit is on or not. I just let the unit power on all time. I'm using an iPod Touch as the source and found that every time I press the "play / stop" button on the remote unit, there is a clicking sound come from the speaker. If I press the "play / stop" on the touch screen of the iPod touch, no clicking sound. I've reported this to Wadia. I suspect that the iTransport might not be competible to all Ipod models. Wadia replied that they'll look at this problem. It costs me US$379 from US.

[#24] iTransport from Wadia - finally, we can co I brought it from Musicdirect. They do not ship outside US. I found that the clicking sound is coming from the DAC. I disconnected the digital connect cable such that the DAC (with the DAC on) and the iTransport is not connected. I pressed the remote button, no clicking sound. I reconnected the digital cable, the clicking exist. The clicking sound is similar to switching a solid state relay on and off. It looks like the iTransport transmits a signal which triggers some of the solid state relay inside the DAC on and off. All the above testing with the preamp and power amp off. I then report this to Wadia and got teh following reply, "It sounds like you have tracked it down pretty well. It also sounds like this is not necessarily a problem; instead it is just an occurrence. If the DAC is what is generating the click sounds, it shouldn’t be coming out of your speakers. I tried my iPhone through a 170iTransport, plugged into a Wadia 15 DAC and a pair of powered Dynaudio speakers. Occasionally when using the remote and pressing the play/pause or track forward/backward buttons; I hear a small relay click inside the DAC, but certainly nothing alarming. Please let me know if you need me to investigate this further." Wadia also found the clicking sound. The clicking sound is also coming out from the speakers. When I turned on the pre and power amps. Turn on a higher volume, the clicking is louder. Anyone has any idea of why the DAC will produce a clicking sound ?

[#29] iTransport from Wadia - finally, we can co Musicdirect sent the item to my US office. You have to pre-order the item, I waited several weeks for the delivery. Jadis is carrying Wadia prodcuts. Phone Jadis and ask if they are selling iTransport. It might be slightly more expensive, but save a lot of troubles. Jadis also provides local warranty.
