| [#23] Lampizator level 4 DAC First of all .... Welcome..... Unfortunately, this time of the year our apartment has become a guest house! I have four batches of overseas guests coming to stay with us in different time slots in the coming 2.5 months, including our son back from school! so its hard to arrange gathering until after Chinese New Year when all our guests have gone, my apology! Will keep you guys posted. Welborne, I consider myself extremely lucky (I don't mean my bank account) as I hit 2 jackpots in one year! First came the STRIAN GAUGE phono system which rendered all my beloved MM & MC cartridges & associated gears gathering dust. Then came the Lampizator DAC which eats almost half of my LP collection for breakfast! TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! That's enough heart attack for me as an " die hard LP ... ", lately I have been labelled as LP betrayer... I will soon be hunt to extinction by those LP die hard "friends" (non of them has had a chance to listen to the Lampizator yet)..... save me, Please! Welcome to take Thornsten's DAC along, he is certainly one of my MOST respected designer MASTERS in the HIFI world. |

| [#26] Lampizator level 4 DAC Hi leben, If my memory serves me right, Level 3, 4 can't be installed with DSD module, only level 5 can accomodate DSD as it has 2 separate boxes. Lampizator's PERSONAL statement of level 6 can't include DSD module (one box affair). As for the one I got, I'm lucky to own the level 7, yes 7! not even on his official website product list yet. Its a 2 box affair so mine include the DSD module. For those, like me, who like tube, would be glad to know, level 7 is using a pair of direct heated single ended 2A3 tubes in the output analog section. |

Since the DAC is not too big to move around, is it possible to set up a listening session in Welborne hing's tiny hifi palace ? I really itchy to hear the performance of the Lamp products. |

Welborne, my brain has been poisoned to a state of beyond repair! I'm a believer of " LESS IS MORE " ....less in signal path, sadly --＞ less power if situation allows. In my case from THE Strain Gauge cartridge --＞ WE437a (phono amp) --＞ WE 437a (power amp input stage) --＞ WE300B (single ended), you can say 2.5 active stages to complete the whole analog rig of LP reproduction. This is after years of trials & errors and I'm happy with where I'm for my LP system, couldn't be more " LESS ". So you may like to take all my personal comments below as a grain of salt if you have different approaches to music repoduction. Welborne, looking forward to hearing your magnificant flea amp..... |

May I ask, what is the tonearm used for the Strain Gauge cart? Which model of the Strain Gauge that you use with? It looks like a Reed arm. So..... your notes on the DAC slashing half of your LP is even more "scary", if it's ok, I would like to reserve a seat for the home visit too. It looks like Strain Gauge is really picking up in its recognition in the local audiophile community.
