| [#21] SACD 是否將會停產？ BHF, - Sony has stopped "sponsoring" hardware and software for a number of years already. That's not news. - I think interest in SACD can be found in more than just Japan and HK. If you go to the below link, you can see where are the hits are coming from for sa-cd.net.... http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://www.sa-cd.net If there's no interest, why go to the website? - PlayStation 3 w/o SACD was introduced to compete with the Nintendo Wii at a lower price level. And it has succeeded as the newer PlayStation 3 has outsold the Wii in Japan. You can still get a PlayStation 3 will SACD playback capability. As for Blu-ray, SACD was never part of the official specs. Philips and Sharp, however, have shown prototype Blu-ray players with SACD playback. |

| [#22] SACD 是否將會停產？ soundboy 毫無疑問，論音質，SACD一般都比CD好(SACD機對CD機)，如果SACD只定位在niche format/market，咁，一般廠家或唱片商，應唔會投資，利潤上說不過。 雖然還有niche唱片商/廠家繼續，但可維持多久？雖知，知名的Musician/Performer多在大label裡(並不是說細label的Musician/Performer，就比不上，只是知名道比較低)，要廠家/唱片商增加成本，制造SACD，價格只會再上升，但銷量又不多，利潤又比不上普通CD，誰會繼續呢？ 當然對音質有要高要求的，會買SACD，但這些人數，是否能養活SACDlabel/廠家？除非SACD能維持高價，以抵消銷量的不足，否則，看不到SACD label / player 廠家仍會繼續投資/參與理由。 但我的看法是，將來應是 24/96 master quality download 的年代，對SACD的生存，我個人比較'不樂觀'! |

However, I think there are more people download music than play vinyl. However, these people are not demand 24/96 audio quality. They just play MP3. There is stilly long way for high definition audio distribution without using a new physical media. |

| [#32] SACD 是否將會停產？ Fail of DVD-A and SACD because of Multi-Ch Audio!!! for pure and audiophile grade multi channel audio playback, too costly and used up a lot of space, unlike AV home theater, other than main channel, other speakers and amplifiers can be less demanding. and SACD and DVD-A sure have higher production cost than any XRCD/LPCD as multi-channel mix maybe take 2 to 3 times afford than stereo only, and the resurrection of Vinyls tells the audio industrial, audiophiles just need high quality Stereo Audio!!! But why some software vender still issue SACD, as SACD is still most secure High Definition format on the market, with the cost of non-interchangeable and incompatible data link and decoding hardware. Why Sony and Philips needs SACD??? as the sole patent period of CD mechanism expired, no more patent fee can be obtain from CD, but SACD will keep new source of the income for their business. But I think after some years of running, the popularity of the SACD was far behind their expectation and not as profitable as planned, so dropping/reducing support of SACD can be fully understand. As we know the storage density of solid state semiconductor chip (like flash memory as CF, SD, some local artist already issue new album in a SD card but in lossy format), we can enjoy full density and resolution music as studio master on a SD card like chip, with no vibration and loss during pickup, and no hiss as analog magnetic media, but the only barrier is how to secure the information and music against illegal copy and transmission via internet. |
