| [#22] Passive Pre amp 同好會 Hi mc240-hing, There are big differences between MFA & ALD-1. Sorry to say this but MFA win in all aspect. I will score ALD-1 at 80/100 while MFA is a 93+/100. Sound from MFA is more musical & noble. Better dynamic as well. |

Their technical details is lacking in the product or website and all those reviews are from "Paid to get review" kind of site/magazine. Audiogon's forum did have much users' feedback...hum - quite a bold move to purchase one. The interior looks nothing special. I guess I will have to listen to believe.  |

| [#28] Passive Pre amp 同好會 TVC is basically it's just a bunch of wires at different turn ratio and a switch to select which wire ratio. Same as step up transformer in MC phono. $70K - unless those wires are made of real gold it's a rip off. There is basically no "design" in a TVC as it's so simple. So you basically pay for the material. Same as SUT transformer it has a lot of problems/advantages - some like it some don't.  |

Also, gear matching is very important. I have used / am using the following passive preamp: - Music First Audio Classic - McCormack ALD-1 - Goldmund JOB Passive - Cello Etude MFA is the most all rounded. Great Dynamic and amazing transparent. Extreme high definition. Goldmund JOB is very Goldmund sound. Very interesting. ALD-1 is the best bargin. Both active and passive. And I love the passive more. Cello Etude is the best looking but very poor sound; at least in my set up. |
