Later batch use different brands randomly (PRC low grade, Holco, Kiwame...) ＞mullard 有大盾, 細盾, 荷蘭及英國造, 有d又話siemens造, 究竟邊隻至靚聲呢? 大盾,英國造 ＞B759又買邊隻牌子好呢? VERY EXPENSIVE and difficult to locate |

| [#30] Matisse Reference 分享編 stephen If this is your unit, I recommend you to replace the big blue kiwame 43K with some other non metal film resistor. Kiwame sounds too blunt and solid. There should be another two Kiwame under the leftmost shaft but I think they have been replaced by CGC. These 4 resistors are under HV and usually all the intermittent noise problems are cause by them. |

New type use steel end caps and sound thin and steely. Maybe you can use a magnet to test your stock. Those manufactured after around 2001, 2002 should be new type. |

In fact I was crazy enough to buy, beg, borrow, and steal many famous preamps to have private shootout with it. The big list includes vintage Marantz 7, Marantz 1, Lafayette KT600, ARC SP 6B,8,10,11, Nagra PLP, JC Verdier, CAT, Sonecma... At the end I still kept the Matisse Ref for almost 5 years until I bought the Kondo M7. |
