| [#33] Western Electric amps and 西電胡 At the time we started to build the replica WE44A preamp, we have the original 44A in hand as reference in terms of circuit topology, not the sound as a matter of fact because the 5K frequency response makes the 44A only useful in voice reproduction applications. The power supply circuit is still missing(a temporay WE274 power supply was built for testing of the original 44A), I went thru' many of the WE stuff, the 44A main circuit cannot be found in the WE publications of audio amp diagrams. Traditional intelligence tells WE274 is always the solution for WE amplification purposes, trial listening on using 274 and 2x205D revealed the contrary. |
