| [#24] Weiss Minerva I have auditioned the DAC2 and the Benchmark at the Exhibition Hall 7 this afternoon. My initial comment is that DAC2 won by quite a big margin in terms of sound quality. Benchmark (at half of the price of DAC) did a fairly decent job. However, I found it a bit soft and restrictive. On the other hand, the DAC2 is more expressive and capable of creating a much wider sound stage. In doing the comparison, the amp and the speakers are identical. The DAC2 is partnered with a MacBook using iTune whereas the Benchmark is connected to a eePC using Foobar. |

| [#27] Weiss Minerva At least one of the songs is the same. The song in question is 24/96 and is downloaded from the same source (i.e. from hifitrack.com). DAC2 and Benchmark use the same amplifier and same speakers. The only difference is that:- 1. Benchmark is using EeePC with Foobar; and 2. DAC2 is using MacBook with iTune. Mind you, the difference is not subtle. |

| [#40] Weiss Minerva Hello, The first batch production has output level of +17.8dBu on both RCA & XLR. This is very normal in professional units with very high headroom. Weiss Medea (DAC1-MK2) have as high as +27dBu on Balanced output. However sometimes this generates problems for consumer unit, especially the RCA high output level. The 2nd batch product updates the output to (+10.2dBu). This update applies same to both Minerva/DAC2. Hope this help. |
