| [#22] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! 100% agree with WSLam (with this time). AudioNote made NICE products in a very niche market. It's good if you like it, relaxed than resolved, tiny little power just limited the modes / types / volumes of music. Most HongKong Audiophiles tend to watch "Hi-Fi" than hear "Hi-Fi", so manufacturer just shoot it with HKD$3XX,XXX.00 price tag ! then, people are "dreaming" of Ongaku as "Sounds from Heaven". Funny world & funny people. |

| [#24] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! I was also into AN UK stuff when I first started. But the coloration was unberable after a while. Good that I didn't pay that much for it :-) sorry WSLam to rub salt on your wound :-) ANJ/Kondo is entirely different world. Much less coloration and highly resolving. It's really amazing AN UK and ANJ was joined for so long. But still, Ongaku is not a balanced product. And long term ownership is something I am not sure about. Having said all that, having been biten by AN UK, I am still a bit hesitant about anything AN. Sigh. |

| [#28] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Apparently the KSL series of amps are the work of his protege, and sounds a bit different (didn't get a chance to compare myself though). The thing that frustrate me is that the Kondo stuff is very very good at what it does, but you have to have the right speakers. Speakers that are not common in HK. Without those very high-efficiency speakers, the amps really shouldn't be heard, even for higher-output ones like the Ongaku. Sounds flabby and incoherent. The sound at the shop was bad, and my old Shindo 300B had much better control (with it's small amount of feedback). But that's the wrong way to judge the Ongaku. Without the right spakers, the amps are a waste of (a lot of) money. Agony is that I don't have the right speakers to go w/ the Ongaku. |

I'll rather say the Kondo Ongaku has its own character, or a sound signature typically different from that of the AN UK line of products, or for that matter, each manufacturer of hi-end stuff tends to add a certain amount of its personal taste to its baby, whether you like it or not, it's up to the buyer to decide.MattewC Hing did point out a very important issue- how long can you live/endure with this coloration. But if you are a wealthy person, the only problem is what should you buy next. |

| [#37] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! ptsang hing is spot on. Every piece of equipment, especially at this level, sounds different and is the embodiment of the designer's sense of beauty. And that's why they are call "Statement" products. If all equipment sounds the same, then high end is dead. I suppose one way to look at these kind of products is that it's there not to please any body but the designer. The production number are by definition small, and people buy them because they pleased the buyer. Of cause, if people buy them sound unheard, and based the decision purely on reviews, that's another category :-) Having head the amps a few times, I have decided to go with the Ongaku (someone please stop me! :-), for it's the statement of a person whom I respect, and Kondo-sama is no longer with us. If nothing else, hearing his signature piece sing after his passing is a spiritual experience in itself. |

| [#39] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Peter, Glad that you like the Horning. I like it too. Very dynamic without being shouty. Too bad they won't fit in my room. I just plugged in the RCA211 last night (though the 53KU won't fit, bottles too big). Entirely different universe. In comparison, the GE211 sounded outright steely and lean. Harmonics are now much richer w/ the RCA, and more inner details. Highly recommanded. |
