| [#5624] 單端胆機同好會 Hello 貓步, Using a single power tube for an amplifier would be ideal. However, the problem is that the power tube doesn't have sufficient gain (sensitivity) like others with 2 or 3 stages. The AD1 tube is similar to the 2A3 with gain of 4. This is the reason why there is an input transformer of 1 : 9 (600 ohm =＞ 50K). The input sensitivity now increased by 9 times but this is still a bit low gain that requires high output the preamp. Unfortunately, the frequency bandwidth of high gain input transformer is very limited to cover the full low to high end spectrum. High quality wideband transformers are rather expensive. | [#5628] 單端胆機同好會 By the way, I don't have experience in using such high gain input transformer. I wonder if it requires having preamp with low impedance of 600 ohm to match with the power amp. My understanding that he Audio Note Gaku-On power amp employs input transformer as well. The input sensistivity specified of 2.4K ohm for XLR balance IN.
