[#5718] Mendelssohn violin concerto - Milstein Just listen to a LP, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto played by Nathan Milstein, Philharmonia Orchestra of London / Leon Barzin under EMI label recorded in 1961. Its worth listening and I like the clarity of Milstein's playing, particular in the third movement.

[#5729] Tchaikovsky: Symphony No6 Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra / Evgeny Mravinsky 17 Oct1982 live recording at Leningrad Philharmonic Large Hall Mravinsky's playing is clean with fire. When compare to Karajan, Karajan's playing of the third movement is very (or too) 'March' feel. ![]()

[#5734] Schubert's Nos. 19 & 21 sonatas - Richter The Regis RRC 1049 CD featuring Schubert's Nos. 19 and 21 sonatas played by Richter (who never recorded the No. 20) is licensed from Olympia, which issued it (OCD 335) some years ago. The two works in the Regis (Olympia) CD were recorded in 1972. The No. 21 sonata in your Brilliant Classics 92229 set is a 1961 recording. The No. 6 sonata (D.566), No. 9 sonata (D.575), and the No. 18 sonata (D.894) in that box-set are also first-time releases. That's why the four Schubert sonatas in the Brilliant Classics box-set are held as some of the most welcome additions to the recorded Richter discography. So, Trazom, the question you would want to ask yourself is that: do you have Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 19, D.958 played by Richter? If you don't, do you want it? If you want it, then the Regis CD is the one you should go for, even if that means a duplication of the No. 21 (well, not exactly, because they are different recordings).
