| [#5779] Domingo Just listen to Sibelius violin concerto 3rd movement played by 1. Accardo/Davis/London Symphony Orchestra/Philips & 2. Mutter/Previn/Staatskapelle Dresden/DGG Accardo's playing on those long and short notes (dotted semiquaver, demisemiquaver) that commence the movement is even and clean. The three notes (highlighted in red) are firm. When swap to Mutter, rhythm on those long and short notes is not firm enough. Like her Brahms violin concerto, some of the notes are out of tune but not as serious as those in Carmen-Fantasie. | [#5780] Ricci erictang: When I was young I was a little old man and I did not like Ricci at all, thinking him vulgar. Years later, I am an older, even old, man, and I've come to like Ricci! Very much! The Mendelssohn is out of print in the west (there MAY be an Australian Eloquence, NOT available in HK) but it is HOT HOT HOT! I love it! The best HOT version. The coupling Tchaikovsky still very good but also available on European Eloquence (I've both; shall compare someday). SOund is great in the Mendelssohn. The Sarasate, Bizet etc CD? NOW I simply think it is the BEST ever. The violin sound is bewitching, even on the humble Taiwan pressing. The famous hifi Erik Freidman is no match. Ann Sophie Mutter? Don't even qualify. This is HOT HOT HOT, gypsy as it should be! Sound of the violin is like real. The orchestra? Hmmm...a bit exaggerated. No other CD available except for the ludicrously expensive XRCD, which I shall not buy. But I think I shall buy the reissue LP!!! It's THAT good! Just my 2 cents. |
