| [#48] yamaha cds2000 Just brought one to have a try yesterday. It's not fair to comment on it before run-in. I tried both XLR and RCA. The RCA sounds better than the XLR (to my surprise). I am investigating whether it is the connection problem (e.g. line connection not match) or amp problem (e.g. not true balance), or CDP problem. According to reviews the XLR is more impressive but not in my case. |

| [#50] yamaha cds2000 Just gone through the manuals of s2000 and my amp I found that the ground and (+ ) are just the opposite among them. I need to have a modified XLR to correct this problem. Such XLR arrangement is different in US and Japanese gears. Hope I can find the solution....... Any suggestion ? |

| [#55] yamaha cds2000 My feeling about the CDs2000 after running-in for 50+ hrs: My reference CDP is Naim CD5x with FC2x. Analytical power: Quite good, standard Japanese taste. Soundstage / 3D image : Weak Vocal : Very hard and metallic, not real Dynamics : Not bad SACD : No surprise at all. It seems to me it's CD part is better. Body/tray/mechanics : strongly built, heavy, stable and very quiet. In my gears the RCA performs much better than the XLR, I still still dont know why and how to solve. The XLR sounds compressed with low output despite using a good XLR IC. Overall : It worths and performs at 9K. Not more than that I think. Definitely not HiFi feel. Anyway, it sounds thicker and more natural than CA840C. In 840C the XLR performs equally well with RCA in my system but not in S2000. I couldnt play well with the XLR of S2000 but in fact it is one the major differnces with S1000. I wonder if it could only best perform with the partner amp A S2000. |

| [#60] yamaha cds2000 OIC, thanks brothers. I need to run it more for better performance. Yes, you are right, I turn off the s2000 when not in use. For Naim CDP and Cap I never turn them off. The power was switched to 220V already but I have no time to compare it with 240V. In fact my main CDP is Naim CD5x. it's vocal tone is superior. I bought the s2000 for my another system in bedroom. Before this I am testing its XLR and SACD performance, which are absent in my CD5x. But no surprise so far. It's really a 9K product (CD+SACD) and not fair to expect too much. I think it costs ＞50K to get a relatively real SACD player. So I am not disappointed about this. The problem is the balanced output. I need a modified XLR IC for test. Anyway my amp MA6900 is not a genuine XLR amp so I may not invest more $$$ on this anymore. |
