Youtube is a wonderful place as I can discover more non-commercial released materials eg. private materials, long-lost archive live performance and new artists and materials. But like I said, vinyl to me is more than just the sound or format. |

| [#43] 入門黑膠推介 Haha, For Classical music, I use company labels ie. Decca, EMI, RCA then their issue number SXL, ASD etc. For others I cat them into Rock and sub dividing them into Female and Male solo artists, then Groups. Jazz will be all together with their alphabetical order. I also have a World Music collection, mainly Asian (Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese) and non-English speaking music. Then my usual suspects collection, those a few hundreds as some suggested, usually next to me close by. The reason why I need to streamline my vinyl is that I need more space for my R2R and Cassette Tapes. Also, I am not stubborn that I must play vinyl I also have CD’s(about less than thousand) and room for my MacBook for CAS. Not only vinyl but also some gears like speakers and amps which I may start to get rid of some. Apart from DL-103R which will need Phono Preamp or MC Built-in from your amp(rare and may not be sufficient) I would suggest either Ortofon Red or Blue budget MM cartridges. I will also suggest Denon DL-160 High Output MC which is just fine with most MM section from most Int. Amps of recent years. If you go LO MC carts then there are many too many to choose and I will leave it to other high hands to lay down their ideas. Maybe just one more. I did enjoy AT OC9 on the past and I truly believe it is a good all rounder for its price. In terms of turntables, but the best you can afford, be it Teac, Prohect, Rega or IKEA even though they may be entry level. Just go for it. Frankly, in Hong Kong, many newbie seeking advise from internet forum or audiophile friends when they building their entry level or first turntable combo, however, when it comes to cartridge, majority advice are just recommend Denon DL-103 or Ortofon for MC or Shure, Ortofon or Audio Technica for MM........ there are many manufacturer making good cartridge today, and there are much more choice fro those decent vintage cartridge........ Those newbie may lost their interest for analog system due to the inferior performance of the turntable, which mainly due to the wrong choice of cartridge and poor setup......... it is a pity to see these kind of scenario repeat over and over again........ |

It was the same reason why most suggest those because they are used, either as choice or part of a package, by the mass and, more importantly, it could be pro and con at the same time, it has no significant merits of diverse characters, or bias as we know. 全無性格！It just plays the record. It's for beginner so you may as well give them some basic, or flatliner as I call it. One needs to learn what's their desire of sound and strength of their components. You can educate them the spec of a gear but you can not educate the desire of a particular sound signature to their desir, namely their taste. We all have been there before and and not until after a few dozens if not hundred of carts and phono amps combos do we know what sound we want. | [#51] 入門黑膠推介 R33好久都沒有過這樣熱心談音響的氣氛，大家互相專重，好像一班小朋友一起熱烈的玩玩具，沒有這種感覺十幾年了。今早看幾個post，深受感動。 黑膠本身是麻煩之物，佔地方，洗來洗去，盤phono唱針唱臂線，全部是另外的東西，另一組系統。調教唱盤唱臂也要特別的摸索，摸索經年，學會了15分鐘可以set好，不是什麼飛機大砲。過程可以說是麻煩，亦可以是特別的樂趣，男人的興趣常常很捉蟲，好聽叫做technical，包括黑膠，包括養車，包括紅酒威士忌，包括咖啡，包括女人。 入門黑膠首先要看看自已手上有多少隻碟，如果是少年時或者前輩留下了寶藏，起碼有十幾二十隻，這樣是值得開始的。同一隻黑膠和CD，播放比較了，即使是最入門級甚至set錯的黑膠，最起碼會討好的是音色自然舒服，看著黑膠碟轉下轉下，會有一種緩慢的生命的感覺，現代的語言叫做很治愈。隨著調教功夫漸漸增進，音響元素越來越好，很容易就超越CD，同樣價錢的黑膠系統會明顯超越CD。之後自然會繼續探索，升級，越玩越大。這是黑膠的魔力。 但如果手上沒有黑膠，或者得一隻半隻，最好不要碰了，原因是黑膠碟炒得太過份。一隻很普通的譚詠麟張國榮梅豔芳陳慧嫻，八十年代銷量好高周街都係，現在竟然隻隻炒到百幾。複刻動不動幾舊，音色和效果明顯不及原版，但買原版condition靚的，NM near mint甚至 mint的，有如尋找處女阿婆(鴨記Paul哥之言)，是不現實的。麻煩和投入，是很不成正比的。 花錢花時間花精力，尋找本來是不完美的東西，追求完美的hifi發燒友又是否覺得可以? 玩黑膠本來就是接受誤差，接受不完美之事，這樣才有生命感手工感。喜歡就好。 入門黑膠盤，我會特別推介 Technics SL-1200，容易買容易set，經典型號，基本上就算日後升級了，也不會想賣走，會繼續服役，是特別耐玩的型號，二手市場也有價有市。唱針不要急於買MC頭，MC頭給你的是動態和細節，真會set好MM或MI頭，set到滿意再講。唱針買 shure 或者 ortofon，普通一點的MM頭已經滿不錯。phono amp如果有七八十年代舊式前級連phono amp會最簡單，否則求其入門phono box例如project的也夠玩一段時間，不用一下子追EAR之類，學好武功之後再找寶劍也不晚，不要讓寶劍放著生繡。 被毒害了很熱烈的，勸其三思都是耳邊風，唯有祝大家玩得開心。 ^^ |

| [#52] 入門黑膠推介 我玩唱盤都玩咗三十幾年 都忘記咗 大部分 玩過 什麼了 有三年前我喺淘寶買咗一把tone arm and cartridge alignment set up tool.., 跟住又買咗一個microphone stand with phone mount... 要needle 放去邊個位置 within 0.1mm accuracy so easy.. Haha 有咗呢兩樣東西, set the tool accordingly (mounting distance, effective length.. Etc..) to whatever the arm is.., 用microphone stand 掛著個電話.. 八倍zoom.. Etc.. Set up is super fast and easy and accurate too... 慢慢搞都係用20幾 mins Never goes wrong with technics 1200, and if goes for even first and cheap taste.. Technics 1600mkii make sense too 鍾意搞搞震會落手落腳嘅 consider lenco L75 相比較 確定認真的搞 都要買一張set up LP, together with a timer and a sound meter (phone apps is ok).. 有好多嘢仲未set得better Better set up... Sound stage.. Indeed nowadays, you pay only few thousand dollars can buy a good turntable fitted with MM cartridge. Technics and Teac are good for the beginner. Now serving me turntable are Oracle with Stax UA7 and Denon DL103, ELAC with original tonearm and cart., and Beogram 3000 with original tonearm and SP10, SP12 & SP14 cartridges. My friend took away my Thorens TD124 with original tonearm. TD124 is a well engineered high precision machine. Buy one if you have enough money in hands.......ha....ha. |
