Thanks to etsang3 hing, I have 'kind of repaired' my power amp. I said 'kind of' since I didn't have the time to strictly follow his advice - that is replacing the entire rca thing. Yet his communication and advice enabled me to repair temporarily the connection problem. I knew I am not even a newbie in this area, and probably I will never advance beyond the beginner's stage because I haven't the time to acquire sufficient knowledge. Yet I can say I did learn simple soldering, and for similar problems in the future, I may be able to fix them on my own (and enjoy). Thanks so much to estang3 hing - the whole experience is like a super-master learning a kid how to walk gracefully!

Just to share my newbie experience, partly for thanking estang3 hing, and partly for those even greener than me :) I followed his advice to buy something from SSP. I bought the things in the pics. Some are terrible - the soldering iron made in China quitted working after some rounds of practice, yet estang hing said I was unlucky since his is still working (the same model); the desoldering 'suck' (forgot the name) made in taiwan was also broken once out of the box (he did recommend me to buy Japan ones).

I later bought a Japanese soldering iron which can control temperature. But I forgot that I should bought an 'iron rod' with a better size. I just lived with it. Also I bought another Japan-made desoldering 'suck' - but I finally find it difficult to use. I further bought some desoldering 'copper tapes' (like tapes), which proved to be easier for me as a newbie to desolder things.

The problem of mine was that the wire connecting the left RCA was broken. Hope the pics showed clearly. The wire was so tightly packed inside the amp so I have to strip away some 'plastic' in order to enable the wire to move a bit more freely inside the amp (estang3's advice!).

Then I use that desoldering tape to place over the rca jacket and 'absorb' the extra tins. It was rather difficult since I didn't remove the RCA out (I guess estang3 may laugh when he see I do this without taking RCA - how foolish I was!). Anyway, may be due to beginner's luck I managed to 'absorb' all the sturdy, old tins around the RCA. Then I used siccsors to strip anyway extra tins left untinned. Then ... my camera went out of order !!! I didn't take pics of the repaired RCA, but I could say I did it! The amp is singing again, and thanks so much to estang3 hing.

The learning process is difficult but interesting. I think I finally bought the tools for a total cost of like $500? (including things for practice). I may make some interesting things that are being sold at Wah Fah for my gf later :) (like a circuit board with Santa Claus made by LEDs).

I fixed the amp over one month ago, but to resize and made them like story board and upload them really takes time! I dun know how estang3 can manage to do his busy work and share his repair story through so many illustrative photos with TEXTS! Anyway, my story is a thank message for estang3 hing and if possible, provides some encouragement to people as green as me (which means know nothing at all about soldering).

我想換唱臂線,換VDH MCS150, 但個Headshell socket pin 可以用咩夾住條線俾我上錫, 但個夾又唔会上錫???
