Just got the SHM-SACD sampler from CD-Japan ^_^.

It sounds excellent.. The SHM treatment makes an improvement - dynamic, informative, wide frequency range.

I really would like to buy more but they are ultra-expensive. My sampler sounds really good.

It's a double-edged sword

You can hear more authentic sound coz DSD remastering is much faithful than PCM, the noise (tape hiss) might sound louder.

Whatever it's good news to Furtwangler fans like me ^.^

Just got Spectrum Sound HQCD André Navarra DSD remastered Captiol recording (source from LP, not tape), sound extremely nice.

Maybe EMI step up from HQCD to HQSACD (not Exton HQ-SACD) in response to Universal's SHM-SACD?

YES, that Spectrum Sound remastering sounds great if you replay it at mid-fi, tried it at those esoteric priced gadget, the soundstage is a bit compressed.

BTW, friend of mine did a comparison between AQCD, HQCD and Red Book CD (ART remastering of Toshiba EMI)of Klemperer conducts Mahler No.2 resurrection symphony, results refers to the finding as per my friend preliminary analysis:

(1) ART (Japanese) early release, - Different recording to other 2. It has a more mono sound, dryer, but closer to the analogue tape transfer to CD without little to no mastering what so ever. But why it bears the label ART is beyond me.

(2) AQCD - Sounded thin, with EQ bass and highs, I felt it has the least resolution comparig to the other 2 versions. Honestly, if this had been tempered with through mastering, the engineer did an extremely poor job, it is not a good presenatation of Klemperer - Schwarzkopf Mahler 2. THe mastering did not reflect their claim about how good AQCD supposed to be.

(3) HQCD - The best sound out of the 3 except the problem with the master analogue tape at the beginning. I like this most out of the 3.

Very interesting! But I think we need to listen and compare the remaining movements in order to draw a final conclusion
