| [#6244] Mozart Piano Concertos bt Richter Good morning, gs, and a very Merry Christmas to you too. I bought that Sacrambow CD (DICJ-25006) at the Tower Records in Shinjuku in the summer of 2003. It's a 1994 digital recording of the Nos. 1, 5, & 18 concertos made at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo with Rudolf Barshai conducting the Shinsei Nihon Symphony Orchestra 新星日本交響樂團. Mine is the 2002 release. It's possible that there's 2004 re-issue. Good luck. Meanwhile, if you enjoy "Richter + Mozart's piano concertos", they are otherwise available on DG (No. 20), EMI (No. 22), BBC (Nos. 22 & 27), and Music & Arts (Nos. 22 & 27). The BBC and the M & A are from the same performances. In terms of recording, the BBC is slightly better. On Ankh, there's another No. 20 with the USSR State Orchestra + Kurt Sanderling (1951): first movement missing though. Tender is the lion. There is an everlasting fund of pleasure to be had in Richter's Mozart (concertos, piano quartet, violin sonatas, piano sonatas, variations, fantasia, Greig's arrangements for a second piano).  |
