| [#624] What T-Amp is the best buy? 係，NUFORCE聲音比較通透，音場定位與及分析力亦很出色，不過我當年部IA-7 V1左右聲道有少少唔平衡，令到音象輕微偏右，拎返行check機與及upgrade去V2之後只係好少少，當時曾經send email問過jason/casey，佢地話部部都係咁，因為左右聲道係獨立模組，好難保證左右輸出音壓係百份百一樣，甚至開機時左右聲道都會分先後開聲，同CLASS AB有分別，所以我之後無再買V3...！ |

| [#628] What T-Amp is the best buy? I am still using on rotation Charlize2 (capacitorless), Topping TP21 and a Virtue Two with Telfon capacitor mod. If people think all Class D/T sound a like then I would ask them to go and listen to Nuforce V3 (don't take V2 as a representative sound of the latest class d). Many people heard the Nuforce V3 integrated in my set up including some pure Class-A guy and they were super impressed. I sold my Nuforce because i want to try tubes again which may be a better match for open baffle (more bass due to lower damping from tube amps) but I am missing a lot of the magic i used to get from Nuforce (only V3 or up). If I am not using open baffle speaker, and not an multiway active set up, I will get a latest Nuforce v3 and may be SE V3 version and forget about tube rolling and mod this and that business. :) The only thing we need to watch out about the Charlize2 is the RF leaking and interference from the naked aircore inductors. I put some ERS paper around each of them and this makes the sound more decent, believe it or not. Topping and Muse both use the shielded TOYO inductors which I think is one of the many reasons they sound good fresh out of the box. But as I said, none of Virtue or Charlize2 begin to approach where Nuforce V3 has reached. |

And using a warm (but not slow, not foggy by all means, just one that puts emphasis on vocal and mid) tube preamp does solidify images and 3D images especially on vocal material. Watch out the noise too when you feed noisy tube pre into class-T as T/D usually has very low input impedance which tends to show up all the noisy rubbish from tube pre especially those based on vintage DHT |

| [#632] What T-Amp is the best buy? It depends on power rating. T-amps clip badly if matched with wrong speakers. I hvae personal experience like yours. As much as i like tripath 2020 (charlize2) so much that one time I brought it over to a friend's home who was using LS3/5a and a hefty tube push pull amp. I plugged in the charlize2 expecting a eye-browse rasising moment but it was huge disappointment for me and him. The Charlize2 sounded like crap, like you said, severely distorted. But matched with speakers with sensitivity over 93db and it sings like angel. For your mission you may want to try the higher power chip like 2022 or 2050. 2020 and 2024 are sure fire recipe for bad sound. My two cents |

| [#636] What T-Amp is the best buy? I agree. I love both 2024 and 2020. On speakers that can enjoy 2024, it has the sweetest sound and the most detailed high frequency presentation. Someone told me this is due to its compact topology (hence ultra short signal and power coupling path) of the smaller tripath chip, and this results in much smaller switching deadtime etc. |

Despite so many good things about these low wattage t-chip, I do notice one major weakness from my countless hours of staying with them and comparing them to tube amp and even Nuforce. Almost all class-t i tried, whether they are 2050, 2020, 2024, have a very shallow depth of soundstage. Width is very good and this must be something to do with their good channel separation and low noise floor, but there is a lack of depth into the space behind the speakers. This problem may not be immediately noticeable on percussion instrument but especially obvious on human vocal. Some attribute this to the phase error/shift caused by the output filter, may be. I have used Nuforce V3 and the soundstage is as deep as any tube amp that i have tried, perhaps deeper. NOt sure if this area of weakness can be improved? I love the dynamics of 2020 very much especially on my 100db open baffle system, and would be close to perfect if the "depth of soundstage" can be improved to a great extent. |
