The level of transparency and detail is way better with grill off. It may not be the safest thing to do since the panel has high voltage. But in my case, there are no tiny little fingers in my house. And, I turn the speaker off while I am not listening. The steel stand improves dynamic, bass, speed, sound stage, etc., you name it.
