Both are very good indeed and Legends, if AR3a the Alnico magnet one, and of course magnetic fluid mid range and tweeter. However, AR3a, 10 Pi need a big amp, 80s Bedini, Crown, APe are the best for a very BIG sound stage and Energetic full body instruments. Give them a high power KT88 Push pull, you may find sound rough. I would say not tube amp friendly. Tannoy silver is too much easier for small power single ended amp, better in moody and passionate music. A very good monitor speaker for appreciating old days small triode tubes |

Even something less powerful than WE300B is possible with Silver. A good 45 or VT52 may be what you need... |

Anyone has absolution right for his own choice. and I also not 'force' my preference to anyone. Loves LS35A (ginger hing and everyone else, myself also like it) is nothing wrong to me. and this is a great legend small speaker too. back to AR3a, it's totally interesting this fall to such low price, though shiping cost to HKG is expensive. They are very famous in late 1970 to 1980. At least costed few pairs of 3/5A over those years. IMOo, SETA for vintage tannoys, someone should step through the 'time' and 'period' to understand the norm for DHSET. Sound Quality V.S. Quanity. Again, this is also a matter of music software chosen, and personal taste. |
