| [#707] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Hello all My Ongaku still plays GREAT music! It is simply sooooo musical :) I have to admit that one channel started to have lower volume after a short time use and the problem was periodic so I was afraid for a while that I had to ship the Ongaku back to Japan. Luckily enough I had some spare tubes and started with changing the original (new JJ) 5687 tubes with some NOS and that solved the problem :) I do have several different VT4c tubes (United and RCA), but are so satisfied with the sound as it is that I have not bothered trying them yet. Have changed the 6072 to GE triple mica, black plate and 5687 to the French ones that Matthew recommended and both made for a great upgrade for a low cost. Now I have followed the advice from several people here and have a M7 phono on ingoing and would like to try it instead of the M7 preamp w/phono that I use today. Unluckily I was not thinking about everything when I ordered it :( To get the best out of my speakers (Avantgarde Primo) I really need to use them with line signal to their active bass units. It's no problem when using the Ongaku with a full function preamp as my M7, but how can I solve this with the Ongaku and M7 phono? I guess that the Ongaku has to be modified some way so I can take out a line signal after the volume control. Most subwoofers have this feature precisely for those who do not have a preamp out, so you can connect speaker cables for input. | [#710] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Yes, the Ongaku has Tape Out, but there are 2 problems. 1. Tape Out level cannot be controlled by the volume knob. | [#711] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Hello Yes my speakers do have a high level input for their active sub woofers, but they sounds it's best when driven active by line signal. Regarding guarantee I am not so afraid. The cost and time of sending the amp from Scandinavia to Japan and back is anyway so high that if something happens (like the bad 5687 tube) I would likely try to get it repaired locally anyway. And I would think that taking out a line signal after the volume should only involving soldering four cables (two each channel)to the Ongaku so I can't see that it should be too dangerous. |

| [#712] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Torfinn, I wouldn't recommended adding extra output after the volume control. I have a suspecion that dynamic will suffer quite a bit. To have it all, get the M1000-II with phono. Then all you need to compromise is your bank account, haha. |

| [#713] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! just installed Oyaide F1/M1 plugs on my double-run ACz (one green version + one brown version). compared to orig. | [#714] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! +24hrs: the power cord now "sounds" more fluid. from memory, the cords with new connectors seems a little more dynamic. will continue to give it more time before passing final judgement. general comment: the hole at the bottom of the Oyaide F1/M1 connectors are rather small & it was a real struggle to squeeze both cords thru... don't think it would have been possible to insert 2 x (thicker) green ACz cords thru. i barely able to able to insert the 1 x green ACz + 1 x brown ACz thru. |

| [#715] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Flat6, How's the experiment with the power cord so far? Think I finally found a power cord that works better than double run ACz....I think. Crystal Cable Absolute Dream seems to be (not dramatically, but noticeably) better then double run ACz..... Still early days, but the absolute dream is more refined, higher resolution and at the same time more extended and natural sounding.... pretty interesting. |

I do not work good at all :( WAY too much gain! Two click on the Ongaku is all I can use. On three the sound is soooo high that my turntables get feedback. Even click one is way higher than anyone can speak. Hmmm............ Anyone care for a as new M7 phono? |
