| [#7586] Friscay 的《卡門》實況版 指揮家Ferenc Fricsay (1914-1963）在布達佩斯時代，即以擅長演出比才的《卡門》著稱。他個人在DG也留下前奏曲、芭蕾舞音樂的摘錄版。此次，在Audite新登場的這個錄音，是Friscay951年指揮柏林RIAS交響樂團的實況版（以德語演唱），當時Fricay才37歲，可惜該演出並未留下全曲錄音。演唱卡門的是Margarete Klose（1902-1968），當時的她也是處於全盛期。  |

| [#7591] 回覆(40):$128 box set Trazom As you are intending to hunt the budget CD boxset and those inventory CD (saw some inventory CDs from RCA, Profile, JVC at HMV Central yesterday night), I now share my experience about the Early Karajan set and Maria Callas set (at HKD$128 each for 10CDs). The karajan set enclosed some vintage recordings after 1946 when Karajan was preoccupied of de-nazi movement but invited by the authoritarian EMI producer, Walter Legge, to record some classical and late romantic period works with Philharmonia Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam,the sound quality of these mono-era renditions are typically acceptable with full of bloom and color, you can hear every nuance and change dynamic even with a minor tape hiss and pops, the integrated effect is simply far from irritating if you concern his early years conducting in a flexible pace and stylish legato(devoid of lush and over-polished karajan sound since 1980's), I simply enjoy his CD1 (mozart symphonies No35 +40), CD3-6 (Beethoven Sym Nos 3-8), CD8 (Strauss Der Rosenklavier), CD9 (Schumann Piano Concerto with Walter Gieseking), fully recommended if you want to better understand who is genuine maestro Karajan before his transfiguration as "Music Director of European". For Callas boxset, unless you are her die-hard fans, provided that you got a crush on her live recordings, or you have owned her complete EMI opera boxset, you better avoid it because some works were sung very good but poorly recorded, please don't expect that this boxset can render you a demonstration class recording, some CDs (such as Tosca excerpt from EMI archiv in 1953) are good enough, but the quality of other live recordings made in early 1950s are not enjoyable but she simply sung the arias (CDs1-7) with a better coloratura agility and tonal precision than her studio rendition. If you want to listen by yourself, I am pleased to offer you an audition , please dun hesitate to call me! By the way, you should not miss the gem of Michelangeli boxset issued by Aura, most are reissued from the live concert mastertapes (1962-90) owned by the widow of Michelangeli, an interesting comparison between his early live recordings and subsequent DGG studio productions. No wonder he was highly praised by Sviatoslav Richter for his feather-light fingerwork , supreme virtuosity and subliminal poetry. George  |

| [#7592] Another superb CD hunting at HMV Central Before heading to visit Limage's castle and to enjoy his Maggies performance, I sneaked HMV Central last night by buying the following inventory items at a budget price, some items are on sale in a crazy and surprised deduction: Maria Callas Portrait (Naxos HK$20) Bruckner Sym No.8 conducted by Gunter Wand with MPO (Profil HK$168) Bruckner Sym No.5 conducted by Gunter Wand with MPO (Profil HK$68) Heifetz Rediscovered (RCA HK$40) Brahms Piano Concerto No.1 played by Rubinstein SACD (RCA HK$68) Brahms Violin Concerto played by Szeryng and Monteux XRCD24 (JVC HK$ 168) These items are placed under those Universal boxsets, my ex-colleague at HMV also told me that they still have a lot of EMI inventory CD in the 4 boxes by virtue of confined space, so keep sneaking HMV frequently, you might find your most wanted items with surprise and wonder! | [#7593] 無法彰顯Berman藝術的布拉姆斯第一號鋼琴協奏曲 由俄羅斯鋼琴家 Lazar Berman (1930-2005）與指揮家 Erich Leinsdorf(1912-1993）演出布拉姆斯第一號鋼琴協奏曲，這個錄音早在1980年代就已經發行CD，目前若干Online 商店都還買得到舊版，不過，CBS/Sony日後甚少將此碟remaster，原因可能在於這張唱片無法彰顯Berman的athletic virtuosity 藝術。 不曉得是不是日版 EQ的關係，總覺得錄音不夠細緻，Berman的琴音也不突出，指揮與獨奏未營造出緊湊的張力，聽完無法讓人留下深刻的印象。  |

| [#7596] Karl Bohm 在 Audite Karl Bohm (貝姆)戰後正規錄音中，其演奏的貝多芬，多數是與維也納愛樂或柏林愛樂的演出，這次audite挖出珍貴的廣播檔案，讓樂迷多了另一個選擇：貝姆與巴伐利亞廣播交響樂團的貝多芬版本。 audite已經不是頭一回出版貝姆與巴伐利亞的錄音，這個新專輯中，曲目包括第二號、第三號及第七號交響曲，這些演奏會實況錄於貝姆與維也納愛樂灌錄全集之後的1973年及1978年，它們多了現場的味道和實況演出的躍動感，也釦畯怚i以在這些演出中，聽到唱片世界未曾聽過的貝姆。 之前Orfeo有出一些貝姆和巴伐利亞合作的, 包括布拉姆斯一號, 莫札特, 理查史特勞斯等曲目, 其中還有同顧爾達合作的協奏曲. 貝姆的實況錄音在演繹上確實滿精采, DG那張與德勒斯登的舒伯特第九便是實例. | [#7600] 極品中的極品 - Beethoven Emperor Piano Concerto 鋼琴家Hans Richter-Haaser（1912-1980）這個貝多芬鋼琴協奏曲（含第4號、第5號）錄音，是極品中的極品，尤其是《皇帝》。它獲得Penguin Guide三星帶花的殊榮，的確名符其實。有趣的是，拿此版與Philips版的 Stephen Kovacevich (1940-）做比較，你會發現無論在鋼琴獨奏者的琴聲、力度，或指揮 Kertesz的強力accompany，style極為相近。  |

| [#7601] Szell 1962年為Decca灌錄的柴可夫斯基第四號交響曲 指揮家George Szell (1897-1970）沒留下柴可夫斯基《悲愴》錄音，但他的第四號和第五號交響曲，都有極高的水平。這張為Decca灌錄的第四號擁有豪華製作、錄音陣容，名製作人John Culshaw加上錄音工程師 Kenneth Wilkinson，為整張唱片增色不少，1962年，光聽 made-in-west-germany CD版本就已經很恐怖了，而且只不過是Szell 與倫敦交響樂團 (LSO)喔，還不是他的禁衛軍 cleveland orchestra 出馬。最近重新拿出來聽，仍為當年的Decca錄音水平讚嘆不已。  |
