The most important is whether you like to listen to music or not, it's true nowadays pop music is all about handsome/pretty singers, but there are also new generation audiophiles out there like me, just not many. hi-fi isn't for everyone, young people usually have many other things to do, social things like soccer, girlfriend, trendy fashions etc. hi-fi is more suitable for individual people. by the way, believe it or not, iPhone4 + Etymotic ER4S sound quality is already good, I think it's quite musical and 3D. if you add a good amp of course it will be better. but sometimes I don't like to carry the amp. When going outdoor, you can't carry your hi-fi! I know ER4S is difficult to push but at 50-60% vol. level it's surprisingly good! If you have chance to go to Mingo you can try try this earphone, neutral and fast earphone. some people will complain the bass is not enough, agree, it IS not 'deep' enough, but it has one of the best mid+high of earphones. I had UM2, it has great bass and mid, but no high at all! XD I own Sony PCM-D1 (yes, D1!), PCM-50, these two sound is quite 2D and cold, not 3D. D1 only good for orchestra music. I can say disappointing. I have another good players Kenwood HD60GD9 limited ver., Discman D-150, D-250, D-Z555 with battery pack EBP-380. Headphone amps RSA Predator and my favorite DIY amp PPA 2.0 and M3. Headphones are Grado RS-1 and ER4S. just my 2cents Cheerz and enjoy the music~ :3 Katt |
