FLAC has compression types although it is lossless but means it needs DAC to do real time decompression so WAV has better quality which does not need decompression on PCM signal.

Jriver has a specific secure RIP function to check the checksum of the CD itself and if the code result is same that means the RIP is errorless. EAC those relies in external check sum database. I think Jriver RIP mechanisms is better

小人聽感CD轉出來的WAV跟CD是有很少差別的一般不刻意比較都是不太覺的。
CD轉出來的16bit 44.1kHz WAV 動態、高低申延有很少很少很少的削減,但整體音質是沒有問題的。
不論用windows media, itune, foobar,其他軟件轉 16bit 44.1kHz WAV都是這樣。
只有重新編碼才能好聲過原版CD,這就是唱片公司將舊版唱片重新編碼後再推出的原因了。

FLAC decompression is an almost negligible load for today's CPU. I highly doubt if one can discern the music file type (FLAC or WAV) by blind audition test.

if FLAC requires CPU to do decompression , it may introduce some jitter to do buffering of packets then change to PCM. if wav does not need such process, then
at least WAV will in theory at least be better. esp the streamer processor power in general is not a powerful one .

其實加上有 AccurateRip, 真是很難會 rip 錯, 不過就算 rip 出來兩個 files 的 checksum 一樣, 又或者甚至 binary 比較過證明兩個 files 是一樣, 但也有人會覺得用某些技巧 rip 會更好聲, 我當然不認同, 但這個話題已經有多年, 再講都無用!

我的經驗也是 WAV 比 FLAC 好聲, 這是與電腦硬件及設定有關的, 快一些的電腦戓者合適的設定會改善 FLAC 的播放。正如有人提及 FLAC 的 TAG 功能是一大好處, FLAC 是有不同的 compression level 的, 預設一般是 level 5, 可以選 level 0 或甚至 non-compressed FLAC, 應該很多系統可能與 WAV 無分別了。

我都試過比較，WAV 同 AIFF 分唔出高低，但兩種都比 FLAC 好一點，最好我用 AIFF, 因為可以加封面和歌名
