May be the format will be open for licensing. just like the asyn USB technology from Wavelength, yes you can have it, but you have to pay for it. It seems using a player called HQ player to play DSD files. Since they are using fireware to connect to Mac, I am sure whether it will work for USB. Tsang Fok is using sommer XLR. Is this DAC sensitive to the powercord or XLR or USB? |

Now using the usb2.0 with Win7. Program is just cplay Playing 44.1 is quite charming. I hope burning more will make sound even more smooth |

| [#73] MyTek Stereo 192 DSD DAC Just added a Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC (preamp ver) as substitute for a Benchmark DAC 1 (the original ver without USB nor preamp function) and been fiddling around with it the last few days. Below are my initial impressions and findings: With a Squeezebox Touch using a 0.5 m SonicWave Glass Toslink feeding native 16/44.1 & 24/96 plus 24/88.2 (converted by KORG AudioGate + dBpoweramp from DFF files that had been extracted from SACD ISOs), I find the Mytek is sonically a tad better than the Benchmark. The timbre is slightly clearer and bass little bit tighter. Vocals of the two are however very similar and on par with each other. Apparently the Mytek's Toslink input has a lower tolerance than that of Benchmark. While Benchmark had no issues at all, Mytek could only lock on to 44.1 kHz but failed at 88.2/96/192 kHz sampling rates fed from a HDX1000 media player. I also tried it with a HiMedia 600A and a different Toslink cable but got the same negative results. Nevertheless coaxial SPDIF fed from the HDX1000 worked like a charm. Today, I tried to play files on a Sony notebook (foobar 2000 + WASAPI on Win7) through i.LINK (Sony's 4-pin implementation of FireWire 400 without power) and using Mytek's internal synchronisation. Comparing with SBT + Toslink or coaxial SPDIF, I find the NB (on battery) + FW mode slightly better. The folks at computeraudiophile.com say that the Mytek 192 needs long break-in time (hundreds of hours). I would appreciate if you have more updates down the road. |

| [#75] MyTek Stereo 192 DSD DAC Hi falcongate, I forgot to mention that the audio files played were in FLAC format streamed from a QNAP NAS over SMB network via Fast Ethernet through a switch. I still have to try native playback of DFF files extracted from SACD ISOs with HQPlayer. Aslo need to try the asychronous USB interface later on. For AES/Toslink/Coaxial, u can select internal 44/... / 192, word sync, input sync. by pushing the knob after choose the input. For USB and FW, it is by default internal sync and can't change. input sync means clock from the source. internal is mytek itself. word sync is 外加鐘. I am using it for mytek + cdt.
