If some other software is pushing the windows timer resolution to 0.5 ms, IBSQ would follow to use the 0.5 ms value. JPlay asio is one that uses 0.5 ms by default. If asio4all is used in the startup settings, IBSQ plays in 1ms all the way. Even if jplay is unloaded from system bootup, once jplay asio is selected in the IBSQ startup, jplay is triggered and the system timer resolution is pushed to 0.5ms again There is audible difference between 0.5ms and 1ms. |

The most important issue for hardware is CPU i7 used and high memory with low CL and high frequency i.e. CL 9 / 2133 MHZ. Please share any modification and setup configuration. |

It is true that network optimization and choice of lan cable could affect the performance. But the sq from dual PC could not persuade me to use it in terms of clarity and stage imaging from single pc. Just wonder if using IBHQ in control pc is merely using its front end, jplay is still driving the DAC in the audio pc. Anyway I would try it today. Heman123 cHing, Could you share your listening experience between MPD and your recent BugHead ? I had a very brief experience with Ubuntu 12.04 etc and AP linux on desktop pc (without NAS) . They are not bad. May be, knowledge of tweaking can further improve the performance. Still want to try the mpd thing, if it can be done without NAS. A brief OS comparison - (in the clean install state) : Win 10 home ＞ ws2012r2 ＞ w8.1 core (with win 8 type generic optimization applied) : ws2012r2 ＞ Win 10 home ＞ w8.1 core |
