| [#83] Pioneer Pure Malt Speaker I use burn-in CD to "cook" the we cable and speakers about 10 hours. Now the sound is improved much. You can't believe the great music from that small speaker. I find the we cable is more musical that TAD 300 cable. Also the price is reasoble, from 2nd hand market R33. To my disappointed, there are a little bit booming in my home. This is my 2nd time to have small speaker. Last time it was Coda 7 and then I sold it because of booming. Is it small speaker easy to booming? Any suggestion? |

| [#89] Pioneer Pure Malt Speaker I bought a pair of VP. At Tokyo shops, compared it against the slightly cheaper Victor woodcone speakers paired with other Victor mini components, Pioneer's own model PM, Denon's dearer new 3-piece suit of CX-3 http://denon.jp/products2/sccx303.html I like the VP most, whether driven by Pioneer mini components or an Accuphase integrated amp. Victor has better extensions but is tonally too bright for my taste, the same goes for PM. Denon's new speakers are disappointingly uninteresting. VP is the one with the tone I like most, with good bass definition (mid-bass of course). Glad to hear others' experience here comparing it to other mini speakers. As a side bar, I'm not a fan of ls3/5a because the ones I chanced upon all had a nasal quality which I found very disturbing. cfh |

| [#95] Pioneer Pure Malt Speaker dear mc225, Sorry for the late reply. I just sold all my other speakers ( Cello,ProAc, and Revel F30) But I don't mean PM is the best speaker. I think it's a matter of taste. Recently, I love smooth and warm sound. And PM has an excellence performance in playback of violin and female vocals. Elvis has its strength. It is more analytic, bigger sound stage and better punch. I think it is not fair to compare both speakers because their characters are totally different. So it is a matter of taste. Actually, I have ordered Nagra CDC. I want to match it with new ATC A100 tower. It will be a simplest system. And it is a differant kind of sound, I think. Anyway, PM is a good bargain. No doubt. |
