I would say if a gear has advantage at one end, it also will always have disadvantage at the other end. The point is we must understand what kinds of characteristic of sound and music we expect the most before we buy. -------------------------------------- Alan I 100% agree. It was a great party at Richard's place. More than 15 vintage lovers took part in the gathering. In order to make the audition running smoothly, we chose the easier way to comment all the pre amplifiers. We were given a paper to mark the scores during the blind tests :-) To add fun, we guessed the the pre amplifiers during the blind test. I should point out the two Marantz One users just recongized Marantz One without any problem. In fact the Marantz One had a signature tube it could be easily recognised. The comparison was fair and square. Even the output level was matched with measuring instrument.

However, it must also be pointed out that the Leak power amp used in the party has a sensitivity rating of 0.15V for full power. 99.999% of power amp in the world will have far far lower sensitivity. So the result is perhaps most relevant for Leak power amp users.

They are final version (5th period) Fisher 50-C. This period equipped with Goodall cap, it sounds very transparent, pure and clear. It is slightly faster than the early period with Bumble Bee.

Dear All,

I just purchased a Fisher X100 too. Plan to use it to drive my Gre Pin 3" small speaker for my study room. Have not test it yet as I just got it today. Will report later when I have listen to the music it produced.
