Please excuse me that I don't really get your point you raised in this thread. I am hoping we can share our knowledge and experience in improving the quality of the audio system. Then, we can all enjoy the beautiful music like in a live concert.

I went to a Cantonese Opera Concert lately. I somehow realized my system at home sound quite close to the concert. What a wonderful feeling.

Hi odmwle,

Thanks for bringing up your #1 issue. What I can say is that Williamson Audio made the 300B 200W hybrid amplifier was because it would be driving the ATC speakers. The ATC speakers require at least 60 watts or more to perform satisfactorily. With use of the transistor power stage, it boosts the musical power from 300B to max of 200 Watts.

Anyway, I don't think Williamson Audio intensionally mislead the curstomers hiding the transistor power stage. I believe they are focused on promoting this amplifier with the 300B sound and it produce much more power as required.

I knew Willamson Audio for few years and we shared a lot of our experience and knowledge with each other in tube amp design. I am amazed how much efforts they have made to get the products with supreme sound quality that most other manufacturer can't meet at all.

Lastly, I am open to any questions or comments that you may have.

#76 其实识音响都知道，300b最多都係十瓦八瓦。冇话啱唔啱嘅唔好咬到面红。。＞＞＞＞

普遍發燒友都知道300B 只有8W. 這個只係其中一個標準答案。

但原來300B 也有其它設計的，例如行A2 mode

A2 mode 有冇音響廠家用? 最簡單的例子就係Kondo Onkagu.

例如下面的例子就是16W

西電 WE300B 的 data sheet 其實也有列明其他的工作狀態。

可以由約8W 到 17.8W

除非你真係搞設計。正常唔會去研究這些資料。

Thanks for sharing the post from Audio Asylum. Using cathode follower with choke (other than resistor) should be a better solution to drive the power tube into A2 mode.

廿多年前我已經用5687 CF drive 300B 出16W, 但係A2 榨出嚟D声冇211,845實淨

廿多年前我已經用5687 CF drive 300B 出16W, 但係A2 榨出嚟D声冇211,845實淨＞＞＞

用5687 cathode follower drive 300B,
日本Kondo 也有出過，所以A2 mode 真係有人用的。祇不過少人知道, 之前我只係一路留意他的Ongaku. 原來同一個理念，也有用在300B, 電路圖我找到的話我就分享出來。

我記憶網上是沒有。我是當年同英國Audio Note 買的circuit，約30年前。因為他想多啲人DIY, 令他們的零件賣得更加多。

另外值得一提。UK Andy Grove 也有設計過用5687 CF 推300B.
