| [#82] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! RTC never made any 5687 AFAIK. The French 5687 were made by Thomson and CSF. They generally have much better resolution compare to any 5687 from USA but rather different tonality. |

Haven't tried the French 5687,just very happy with the Tung-sol 1952 and 1953, the flat plate 52's is the best, but only have one.There are plenty late 50's on Ebay, but they sound different. Don't sure if Bendix 6900 is a drop-in replacement for 5687, timetube Hing and F2aYeung Hing, can you please enlighten me on this. Matthew, it's worth to pay Brendan of Tubeworld the money for the selected 50"s GE cryo treated, I ordered a pair which outperforms all 6072 I've tried by a large margin. I just ordered 2 more pairs for my pre-amp but they are out of stock for the moment, Brendan will advise me when they are back in stock. |

| [#86] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! Bendix 6900 is very close to the 5687 and should work as a replacement with no problem. I tried it before. It is much closer to 5687 compare to 7119/E182CC which has 40% more gain and alomost 50% more Gm. 12AY7 is much the same as 6072 but very different from 7062/E180CC. You guys should really try Brimar 13D3/CV4068 as sub for 6072 and share with us the result. |

In HK! Ongaku, Gakuon, Gakuoh, Kegon, Kegon-M, Kageki, M7, M10, M100, M100 DAC, Ruthy 5, ANE SE/Silver, Living Voice Airscout 3 way horn system. Needless to mention tons of silver wirings and top end analogue frontend. |

I haven't heard the Ruthy series before, the only Kondo speaker I've heard is called S-18, a smallest 2 way design, cylindrical in shape, extremely musical,golden sunny,loads of details,bright but not brittle, not the kind of sound we usually hear from current/older designs. Is this what you heard from the Ruthy. |

| [#91] AudioNote Ongaku - I am in pain! ptsang hing, Our audition was mainly with the M100,Gakuon,LV bass horn system until the last 30 min but I paid special attention to the Ruthy5 which is, I think the flagship model of the Ruthy line. The pair of Ruthy was driven by another M100+Kageki(Parallel 2A3 with all silver x'former) and the other set up next door is Ongaku + ANE/SE silver. I am using ANE/SE silver myself so although 2A3 sounds quite different from 211 I'll try to comment the sonic difference. If I have to use one word to describe the sound, it's 'transparent'. My brain was loaded with the natural and easy 'horn sound' before entering the room but I can tell you this speaker sounds as natural as horn + it images better than horn speakers. I can't tell you much about the dynamic graduation because we only played some vocal but in terms of tonal balance this speaker is flat like a ESL. I didn't notice any dips or peaks or booms during the audition and by comparison the ANE sounds more boomy. Ruthy-5 also has better HF extension than ANE which is quite noticeable and it doesn't sound bright at all. There was a pair of Sonus Faber low end speakers sitting on top of the Ruthy and by comparison, it sounds even brighter than Ruthy. The most adorable part of this speaker is the timing correctness throughout the whole frequency spectrum, which imho, the most difficult and most important criteria to achieve. I was told however, that this speaker is not in production anymore. |

You are right about the timing and pace, only the very well set up WE amps and WE field-coil speakers have the ability to reproduce the 'right' pace of music which is now achieved by Kondo-san in a different approach, in fact, the sounds of WE and Kondo have a lot in common, especially the way they present music, it goes straight into your heart. |
