[#101] 大家的LP系統 Hi ant33.33 Hing, I think we should not argue whether who will be the chairman for "Old Cake Vinyl Club". The topic of this thread is '大家的LP系統' and we should respect for the goal of this thread. Here is one of my junk T/T ![]()

[#103] 大家的LP系統 Hi lym, A spacer from Hardware Store maybe the cheapest and instant solution to the "weight balancing" problem. Moreover, both RB250 and RB300 Stub are ABS made rather than metal, it may not be rigid enough to accomodate such a heavy counter weight, besides, the tonearm resonance point may shift to the listenable range.

[#104] 大家的LP系統 foxtan hings : I agree. Cheap solution often comes with a bit of compromise.

[#105] 大家的LP系統 Hi condefly2, As all we know the Golden age of Vinyl is from 60-80, not matter is the hardware, electronics and software. Most of the nowadays Vinyl products design enlighting from the past. IMHO, most of the recent hardware tend to closing the gap between digital and analog in in terms of speed, dynamic and damn figure of measurement. However, they just despire the essence of what Vinyl fans most concern - the musicality! As I've mentioned in the other thread, a mint and excellent condition TT, tonearm combo of the 80's costing under 10K can beat those recently produced TT miles away even costing over 20K. Just one simple example, I bet the SAEC 506 would definitely beat the Clearaudio Unipivot 12" by huge margin!! I'm not intend to embarass you, but your collection have revealed your valuable knowledge and enthusiasm of the Vinyl world, and can enlight the fellow members who are and intended to proceed to the abyss of Vinyl wonderland.........do you agree ant33.33, don't you?

[#106] 大家的LP系統 Hello foxtan, I have admitted that your point of view for modern LP products against the vintage products, the basic design and concept remain abiding but the modern products use more advance material that were unable to process before. This is a mercenary world, merchants introduce new products to the market are for profit whether it's musical or not is another issue. IMHO the Clearaudio cartridges are will know for not musical but my vintage 'Goldmund' cart. mated with the SAEC 506 can reproduce the best Piano music in my system out of my collection. No matter who's the host, let's explore the genuine music of vinyl that we lost in the digital world.

[#107] 大家的LP系統 Foxtan, It seems that condefly2 hing, despite being very knowledgeable and experienced is also very modest and reluctant to take on any 'titles'. I therefore suggest that we set aside the issue of chairman of the 'old cake' club, which in fact is just a title :) BTW, I share you view on the modern vs. old cake gears...the major problem with old cake stuff is that they're old and prone to break down/need regular maintenance to keep in optimal condition, like all 'old cake' stuff... Condefly2-hing, Interesting Micro setup...is that a Sony MC cart on the FR 64S? I almost forgot that I also have one.

[#108] 大家的LP系統 ant33.33 Hing, Thankyou for your comprehension for not nominate any 'titles' for the Old Cake Vinyl Club. It is a FR-7 low output MC cartridge quite heavy in weight, glad to know that you have one.

[#109] 大家的LP系統 Hi condefly2-hing, No worries. Some people are just modest and prefer to keep a low profile. I know how it feels. Ah...yes, of course, FR-7...I guess I'm getting old...although it does look like the Sony MC cart I have from a distance :)

[#110] 大家的LP系統 Hi condefly2, Just for curiosity, from your photo, is the SAEC 506 sound better with Orsonic 101b than ULS-3X with your clearaudio?

[#111] 大家的LP系統 ant33.33 Hing, All the vinyl stuff (no matter vintage or modern) need regular maintenance, it deteriorate faster than regular use. I change my arm/cart. regularly to maintain the damper of the cartridge's elasticity and prevent oxidation of the coil, furthermore to keep the smoothness of arm's bearing.

[#112] 大家的LP系統 Hi foxtan, I never had a good outcome with the original ULS-3X Corian/marble head shell, it sounds liveless to me. It's good to have one for collection if you own a SAEC arm.

[#113] 大家的LP系統 Hi condefly2, Oh! Really! Actually, my TT combo is disintegrated at the moment, I'll do a comparison when I have time to assembly them to see the result.......luckily I got 2 ULS-3X and 3 Orsonic 101......

[#114] 大家的LP系統 Hi foxtan Hing, You are very lucky to own 2 ULS-3X and 3 Orsonic 101b, they all cost you a fortune nowadays.

[#115] 大家的LP系統 Condefly2-hing, I agree, that's why sometimes even NOS vintage cartridges will not function, having problems with the damper or coils, another reasons why 'old cake' cartridges are not for everybody. BTW, do you mind sharing what loudspeakers you're currently using?

[#117] 大家的LP系統 Hi ant33.33 Hing, That's right! the 1st rule for the Old Cake Vinyl Club's member is to have time and patient for your toys. Now I’m using a pair of Canadian Oracle Mentor Studio which is the predecessor of Verity Audio Parsifal and a pair of Reference 3A Royal Master II from Swaziland.

[#119] 大家的LP系統 Hi condefly2 / ant33.33, Yap! the current value of them are really scary..... However, if I sell them out, my tonearm would be as useless as a junk metal tube.......they spend me years of them to hunt locally and oversaes.... I bet I would delighted to own a few more if they are excellent in condition and of coz good price. :P
