| [#1303] Logitech Squeezebox touch Oh Beeos, its a combination of gears and cables tried by Kuro here to promising result. I think he mentioned this either here on Touch thread or on another "Touch replacement..etc" thread. Anyway according to his long experiment, router choice and how you connect it matter (i didnt believe before but that triggered my own experiment with no-router connection and, now I believe it matters, and the chance is that not only the router, but types of cables). His own recipe is Supra Cat7+ cables (must be 5m or longer, longer better makes sense if the cable impedance reflection does come into play) , Apple Airport Extreme 2nd-5th gen, 5v gigabit switch from DLink connect to Extreme router via 2m Sanws Cat7, everything powered by linear PSU. I got half the story done. Just need the cheap 5v Gigaswitch. I even have his modded Pogoplug (which I name Kuropogo). What I don have is... The Art-Legato II ddc... |

| [#1310] Logitech Squeezebox touch Hi Rover, Have you tried controlling the touch via the web interface (i.e. your_NAS_IP:9002)? If that works and controlling the Touch directly doesn't, then probably the issue is not with the NAS. One thing you can try then is perhaps resetting the Touch and set up again. Your NAS's spec is a little low (particularly in RAM) for LMS with a big library (although 1T is not too big really). I recently upgraded from a 2.0GHz arm with 512RAM to atom with 3Gb RAM for my ＞70000 flac library and the difference is pretty big. |

That's why I want to know if any C-hing is still using DS109 like me and having the same problem? If the DS109 is no longer capable to handle my library, I am afraid I have to move on -- maybe a DS415 plus(very very expensive)? Maybe I should try to re-install the LMS in my DS109? |

| [#1313] Logitech Squeezebox touch Congrats, Rover. Perhaps it was just a random crash and the re-installation fixes it. Sometimes people would also just clear the cache files every now and then to "refresh" their setup. If it runs fine now, then no need to worry about it, but it does seem that LMS is quite RAM consuming and your 128mb may be a bit low in the longer term as your library grows. Happy listening. |

| [#1315] Logitech Squeezebox touch Full SSD for NAS would be super expensive, and it would hardly offer sufficient volume for a music library. If you are worried about noise from the box, perhaps you can place it further away from where you do your listening. If you are concerned from the audiophile electronic noise angle, that same money spent on a better renderer or DAC might give you better value for sound IMO. From an operation perspective, the fanless NAS usually come with slowish chips and not a lot of RAM and would not be as speedy as more capable (though noisier and more energy consuming) counterparts. However, with the limited library that you can put in a full SSD setup, I guess the difference would be less noticeable. Just my 2 cents. |
