[#1] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 I saw there has already been a few SB3 Group Purchases on this board. I just want to start a main post to gather all SB2 and SB3 fans. I purchased my SB2 last yr, and upgraded this year to SB3. I spent 2005 converting all 500 of my CDs into lossless formats (mostly WMA Lossless and FLAC). I ended up using a 'conversion service' in the US (www.awaken.com). Since I ripped all my CDs, I SOLD my Linn Sondek CD12 CD Player and bought an EMM Labs DCC2 as DAC, connected via Audio Note cable. I also owned a Apogee Big Ben with full Upgrades and a TacT RCS 2.0s with all the Aberdeen upgrades. My setup is as follow: - Hush Computer (Fanless PC, absolutely quiet) - SlimServer 6.22 - Two SB3 - TacT RCS 2.0s - EMM Labs DCC2 - Mark Levinson No.33H - Revel Salon Hope everyone can share with us your SB3 experience. SB3 has REVOLUTIONIZED the way I listen to Music, not to mention when it works in conjunction with PANDORA! (www.pandora.com) cheers

[#3] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 I've bought a SB3 but don't have time to set it up yet. May I know what is the best wireless router available in terms of cost-no-object and price performance ratio?

[#4] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 Maybe my place is too small, but I never had problem with my SB3 and the WiFi connection. I am using a LinkSys. Since the SB3 is just a standard 802.11g, I dont think any of those fancy 'booster' technology would benefit.

[#7] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 You must be the one who I lend the SB2 to? =) My SB2 actually never worked again! =( it's ok, I have no use for it. I am happy with my SB3. =) Keep poisoning more people! Anyone trying out www.pandora.com?

[#8] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 newkidwai, can't see the linksys model, but i think ANY 802.11g will be fine. how far will the SB3 be away from the router?

[#10] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 It's Linksys' WRT54GC. I just bought one at $385.- yesterday evening and made some progress this morning but can't connect to the SqueezeNetwork, maybe because I haven't set up my firewall / internet security exception properly. I'm a network idiot so I even don't know how to startup any wireless network. Still trying and will report progress soon ... ![]()

[#12] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 qk, i too wish there is a similar service for classical music like pandora, but obviously it is much more difficult to categorize classical music. i think in due time, someone will be clever enough...

[#13] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 newkidwai, to use SqueezeNetwork, you first need to sign up for an account at www.squeezenetwork.com and REGISTER your SqueezeBox. Did you do that already? Did you sign up for an account? You need to enter your SN account info on your own SlimServer (e.g 192.168.0.x:9000)

[#14] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 細膽仔, SB3 is a really wonderful little device. The digital output from the SB3 is imo, audiophile level. The analog output, using the internal DAC is not quite as good, but then, what do you expect for US300!? To ans your question: Q) is quality comparable to CD? A) of course. do not forget, recordings these days are actually done by computers. the KEY to getting good quality music onto your PC is to properly RIP your CDs. Google 'EAC' and you will find a software that will give you BIT PERFECT ripping. Now compress it using FLAC or WMA Lossless, or any other Lossless codec, and essentially you have an EXACT copy of the CD in COMPUTER DATA form in your PC. The playback is EXACT EVERY time. Just like you copy a Word file from one computer to another, you do not lose a 'word' nor will the spellings get messed up. It is EXACT. That's what computer DATA does. If there are errors, there are enough Error Corrections mechanism built in. Q) Cost? A) USD299 for one, or 100 off for 2. www.slimdevices.com you really can't go wrong with it. it takes time to setup everything initially, but once you get it up and running, and find a good DAC to go with it, it's as easy to use as Karaoke. And yes, SlimServer 6.22 supports Chinese display. =)

[#15] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 Thanks, wslam. I haven't done that yet. :-p You know home users like me usually are not used to any kind of registration.

[#16] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 btw, everyone, if you want to know what SB is all about, you can first download and install Silm Server at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html Then you can use SOFTSQUEEZE (it comes with SlimServer). Setup SlimServer and install SoftSqueeze (it's on the homepage of SlimServer)...once you set it up, the UI of SoftSqueeze is identical to the actual SqueezeBox.

[#17] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 hi newkidwai dont blame you. SB3 is really a NEW way to listen to music. SqueezeNetwork merges internet with home audio. It saves all your preferences so you can access them anywhere. btw, I can also listen to my HOME music from WORK using SoftSqueeze. It is so cool! =)

[#18] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 Finally made it!!! Connected to SqueezeNetwork to enjoy quite a no. of radio stations from all over the world, incl. Paris, LA, Seattle, San Francisco, London, HK, to name a few. I don't have a good tuner so I cannot compare yet the sound quality of SB3 vs analogue tuner for same radio station (e.g. RTHK) but it does provide a low cost alternative to listen to foreign radio station offering good music rather than mere BS. As to its ability to retrieve ripped CDs on HDD and its performance vs good transport, I haven't tried yet because I'm still a learner. One qualification heard from a computer expert today is that wireless network do carry some noise. I haven't yet have time to try to connect the SB3 to broadband / PC network via ethernet cable for comparison. Would other experienced SB3 users kindly shed some light?

[#19] SqueezeBox (SB2, SB3) 同好會 The radio quality will not be as good as FM... well it largely depends on the bitrate of the radio station provides. Now sign up on www.pandora.com and associate that with SqueezeNetwork. That is quite an amazing combo. Re: your computer expert comment. Of course, ALL communications between any computer protocols have erros. wireless OR not. But then ask yourself, when you surf the web wirelessly, do your pages get scrambled up from the errors? No! ALL computer protocols, from TCP/IP to 802.11b/g has built in error-correction which results in BIT PERFECT transmission. Just think about this for a second.
