[#1] HiFi Grade Electronic Music Club I am fond of different kinds of music ... but eletronic, especially avant garde, is much less discussed here. I spent my entire youth listening to British new wave and electronic music in the 1980s, mostly pop at that period. Being older now, I still enjoy, perhaps occasionally, listening to music at that age, but also want to listen to something new and more sophisticated. Moreover, recording quality has become more important to me at least. I just wonder if we could share the great music we have encountered. It could be something dated back to the 1960s or something in the 2000s, or recently released. Perhaps "Hifi grade electronic music" is going to be paradoxical. HiFi - according to traditional definition, is reproduction of music 'realistically'. Electronic music however have no such 'real' reference, especially ambient music. Nonetheless, I think there are well produced and mixed electronic music. That's a universe that do not completely comply to traditional definition of hifi I guess. Having said this, many criteria of 'good' sound should still applies to electronic music. Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto – (2011) Summvs

This is one I find myself being totally absorbed by the interesting soundscape. I found one review which I agree very much (see below). The recording quality is superb, although its bass is very 'deep' so requires a room with little booming to enjoy.

電子細微聲響，清冷透徹
鋼琴雨點般落下，孤獨而清醒

Alva Noto與坂本龍一（Ryuichi Sakamoto）2011年合作的第五張作品「Summvs」，專輯名稱「Summvs」是兩個拉丁字組成，'summa'連結'versus'，意思是"加總"和"對抗"，貼近描述了兩人的合作歷程，兩位大師一種相互合作又競爭的關係。這十年來推出了四張專輯和一張EP，這五張作品依時間先後排列：「Vrioon」(2002)、「Insen」(2005)、「Revep」(2006)、「utp_」(2008) 「Summvs」(2011) 每張名稱的第一個字母組成了"virus"這個字，隱喻著音樂有病毒般的感染力，也透露這對夢幻組合已進入終曲階段。

Alva Noto是德國現代實驗電子音樂先鋒，本名Carsten Nicolai，以機械顆粒冷凝噪音聞名，作為德國實驗電音樂廠牌Raster-Noton核心人物，十餘年來已發表大量作品，極力開拓各種聲響的界線及可能性。坂本龍一是日本前衛電子搖滾樂隊Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO)成員，個人作品從前衛電子、琉球民族音樂到現代音樂，對各種音樂類型勇於嘗試，量多質優的作品表現，已得到樂迷衷心支持，並曾以電影配樂得過奧斯卡獎，可說是日本當代在世界最有知名度的音樂家之一。

兩人的合作，大致可以說，Alva Noto負責電子合成器、音序器（music sequencer）、鼓機（drum machine）和取樣器，坂本龍一演奏鋼琴。其電子聲響與鋼琴並非構築在容易辨識的旋律之上，而是著重音色及氣氛的營造，電子樂器glitch機械和ambient環境實驗元素，襯托出鋼琴緩緩演奏的美感，琴鍵細雨般落下，殘響留白，有著孤獨而清醒的姿態。
這張「Summvs」之中，"Halo"與"ionoscan"鋼琴飄浮而疏離，表現迷人。"Pioneer 100"心跳電子雜訊，小小細微噪音聲響，鋼琴迴聲充滿觸感，"Naono"聲納探勘彷彿置身深海底層的音效，環境電子聲浪如洋流漫開，鋼琴演奏清冷透徹，令所有煩躁沈澱。而整張專輯裡，我覺得最好聽的曲子是Brian Eno作曲的"By This River"。我不禁想到，這大概就是最適合我們這個網路複製時代的心靈音樂，聆聽這些音符，念頭聚集飄散，不需太多判斷，讓內心處於相對客觀的狀態，也許，這就是音樂帶來某種類似「禪」的平靜吧。

"The Books were an American duo, formed in New York City in 1999, consisting of guitarist and vocalist Nick Zammuto and cellist Paul de Jong. Their releases typically incorporated samples of obscure sounds and speech.[1][2] They released three critically acclaimed albums on the German label Tomlab, and released their fourth studio album, The Way Out, on Temporary Residence Limited in July 2010."

Not really hifi grade. But the collage of sounds and samples are really refreshing. Youtube has a lot of sampled songs. They have released five albums.
