[#91] iTransport from Wadia Anyone want to discuss their set up with i170...rip with WAV, AAC, Apple Lossless...and going into which DAC? I am on WAV going into DacMagic, I find the sound compressed at the top and bottom.

[#90] iTransport from Wadia Hi I have replace the two cap inside the iTransport with Blackgate. the source was WAV format file in iPhone 16G first generation. The problem of the bass too light seems overcome and the background was silent as deep sea.

[#89] iTransport from Wadia Can you show some details ? I would like to know how but I am not a DIYer. If some one in Hong Kong can make this "upgrade kit" I will be all over it ! F. Lo

[#82] iTransport from Wadia Hi yatyat, Pls see reply from Wadia below, the clicking did appear on Wadia DAC sometimes. **** Eric, It sounds like you have tracked it down pretty well. It also sounds like this is not necessarily a problem; instead it is just an occurrence. If the DAC is what is generating the click sounds, it shouldn't be coming out of your speakers. I tried my iPhone through a 170iTransport, plugged into a Wadia 15 DAC and a pair of powered Dynaudio speakers. Occasionally when using the remote and pressing the play/pause or track forward/backward buttons; I hear a small relay click inside the DAC, but certainly nothing alarming. Please let me know if you need me to investigate this further. Thank you, Martin Cooper Sales for North America Wadia Digital 1556 Woodland Dr Saline, MI 48176 *********************** Most high end DACs have a solid state relay to turn the signal from DAC to preamp ON and OFF. The remote control of the iTansport cuts the signal from iTransport OFF and then turn On again. This action makes the DAC clicks. I spent 2 nights to trouble shoot this problem with Waida (US office) together and could not find any solution. I'm looking for a better digital cable (I'm using the Wadia digital cable which comes with the iTransport) and thinking of making a power supply for the iTransport to see if there are any improvement. Can anuone help on making a DC power supply ?

[#81] iTransport from Wadia Dear Eric, I don't find any click sound except I "slide" the iphone from stand ny mode. No click sound while forwarding / backwarding. I did use dannysummer's 最愛是誰 for comparsion, find it is no big different from my wadia 20, except the background noise is a bit louder and the bass of CD is better than iphone wav hope I can help

[#79] iTransport from Wadia cmyipp2, Pls check PM, john323, pls checck PM, I don't think the connector is difficult to find. You do not need to make the power supply to 5A. the original power supply rating is 2A and I believe that the iTransport should use less than 1.2A. The problem is how to make a good power suppply. vt75, I saw some information from Internat (with no proof) said the Wadia cannot sell the iTransport more than US400 because Wadia signed a contract with Apple. Otherwise, Apple would not release the digital information to Wadia. It sound logical, bacause wants to sell mote iPods. Like me, I bought the iTransport and then I bought a 32G iPod Touch.

[#77] iTransport from Wadia "So why is the Krell so expensive?" Like many other iPod products, they use analog out. Most people believe that iPod digital out is not possible. Now it is obsolete technology for audiophile. Krell, like most of the expensive brands, price it base on their brand name, not the design or quality.

[#76] iTransport from Wadia I do not have a Wadia CDP. The remote control units of my CDP and preamp cannot control the itransport. No surprise. :p

[#74] iTransport from Wadia In the iTransport package, it comes with 5 nos. dock inserts for iPod Touch, iPod nano, iPod classic, etc. I am using iPod Touch which has 8GB flash memory. For a song in WAV format, it takes up about 40MB. So, 1GB memory is only enough for 25 songs. I reckon that the sonic performance of iTransport + iPod Touch with WAV files is so good, even compared to expensive CDP in the HK$50K category. The analytical details and also soundstage are very impressive. Still need to test its capability on bass (maybe the switching power adapter of 12V 2A needs to be upgraded to give more power/current to iTransport for good bass) I have not tried the iTransport with iPod Classic which contains harddisk with memory of upto 160GB. I guess harddisk with mechanical movements would not give the same good performance as flash memory. Just guessing though! First of all, need to get over the burn-in period. :p
